How to deal with Russian minefields

Posted on 09/09/2023 4:41:27 AM PDT by ganeemead

After the total failure of the great "CounterOffensive(TM)" it is obvious that ukies are looking at something the wrong way. They obviously need to go OVER those Russian minefields and not THROUGH them.

A giant flet of helicopters perhaps? The nato fops and neocon wankers responsible for this **** could in fact afford that but it wouldn't work, too slow and they'd all be shot down. Captain Hoho needs to soar over them Russian minefields substantially faster than that.

Bobby Darren to the rescue!!!

That's the answer though, i.e. CANNONS!!!! Leftover 16" battleship rifles from WW2, we still have those in warehouses somewhwere or other!!

Goodbye cruel world, I'm off to join the circus,
Off to become a supersonic clown
Shoot me from a cannon I don't care
Past them Russian minefields through the air
I'll tell the world them Russians
As mean as they could be,
Them mean, wicked Russians made a flyin clown outta me!!!!

Better idea: the vast majority of illegal migrants in Europe are young men.

Send them ALL to Ukraine and put them to work on mine clearing.

I’ve been reading about the various methods they use to find and remove mines.

Thermal imaging with a drone just at dusk appears to locate them as they retain heat more than the surrounding ground.

The rocket attached to a cord of explosives appears to work. That detonation in turns detonates the mines that are in a soldier’s path.

I just watched a video where a Ukrainian farmer rigged up a tractor with remote control and a mine sweeper mounted on front so he could remove the mines to plant his field.

Ingenuity will prevail.

Probably not applicable here, but in Desert Storm we detonated a giant fuel-air bomb over Saddam’s minefields to clear them.

These methods you mention work, They’re just not perfect. Miss one and bad stuff happens. Maybe the ones on the surface cab be detected by thermal imaging, and in some cases I’ve seen they are just lying on top of the ground in weeds. It’s the one that got covered by dirt you have to watch out for.

Have they tried pogo sticks?

Seems that NATO pretty much has the solution to Russian minefields - send a bunch of Ukrainians over them, to detonate them. After all, it’s gotten them 5% of the way to their Greatest Offensive goals in the past 3 months.

Russian mine field density: 5 mines (mixed anti-tank and anti-personnel) per 1.5 sq meters.

Mine field depth and length measured in miles and hectares.

Plus, cleared paths can always be re-mined by artillery firing mine canisters.

Yes. That probably solves more than one problem.

..send a bunch of Ukrainians over them, to detonate them.

Now that there is a pretty smart idea.

Plus it gets more ukies advancing past the minefields where they become target practice (cannon fodder) for the Ruskies.

The Ukrainians are just gathering up the Russian mines and turning them into bombs that can be dropped from drones.

Each Russian mine will kill a trench full of Russian soldiers.

I subscribe to a YouTube video of metal detectorists in Russia, who uncover all sorts of WWII Russian and German military paraphernalia, including mines, and hand grenades. It’s unbelievable how much crap is still buried there, not only in trenches, but in the rivers and streams. They surmise that many German soldiers in the last days of the war either left the stuff or buried it before they surrendered. Some of the stuff coming out of the mud is completely preserved...like leather belts, leather cartridge holders, wooden boxes of ammunition, etc., even skeletons of dead soldiers and airmen. It’s amazing what they find.
