A fan was kicked out of Arthur Ashe Stadium in the early hours of Tuesday morning after Alexander Zverev claimed the man said “the most famous Hitler phrase there is.”
While the German star emerged victorious after beating Jannik Sinner in five sets to land himself a spot in the quarter-final, the match wasn’t without controversy.
As the pair were locked 2-2 in the fourth set, Zverev couldn’t take it anymore and stormed over to the chair umpire to complain about the fan’s shocking remark. “It’s unacceptable,” Zverev, 26, told umpire James Keothavong, who instantly turned around to ask the fan to reveal themselves.

True- written in 1841, to Joseph Haydn’s tune. After WW II, which btw did not have hitler or nazi’s changing the lyrics— the lyrics were the same until after the loss of the war.
Officially- the German National Anthem consists of the last stanza of lyrics, the 3rd one... and ONLY the 3rd one (which is of course ridiculous and part of “de-nazification” removing lyrics that predate the 1920s thru 1940s by 100 years.

Zverev’s ignorance is truly astounding. He is not even aware of his nation’s national anthem. He appears embarrassed about his nation’s history. Do Russians and Chinese have similar feelings? After all Germany comes in a poor third in the mass murder competition. Also, “ask the fan to reveal themselves”. Are we getting into the new pronoun designations?
