RIP Beverly Hills: Startling video shows how once-thriving shopping mecca is now a desolate wasteland as high-end shops, banks, and restaurants shutter their doors amid economic woes and crime

A new video documenting the growing number of high-profile stores in Beverly Hills that have closed recently, places renewed emphasis on the crisis facing the retail sector in most major cities.

The video, posted by an account called cody90210, shows some 11 popular Beverly Hills retail stops now entirely shuttered, including the iconic former Barneys location, Brooks Brothers, All Saints, and the high-end women's fashion boutique Escada. Both Escada and Barneys filed for bankruptcy in recent years.

The closed shops, which also include convenience retailers like Rite Aid and Chipotle, and even popular workout class option SoulCycle, have shuttered their doors on Wilshire Boulevard, leaving the area bereft of its former appeal. Their sad decline marks a departure from the area's lengthy heyday, which even saw band Weezer pen a song with the lyrics 'Beverly Hills, that's where I want to be.'

The reasons for the ample number of closures vary, as many brands see a decrease in demand for in-person retail experiences, while others pivot business strategies following acquisitions by other brands. The downturned economy has also negatively impacted most brands, but especially those marketing luxury products.

While stores lining Wilshire Boulevard were once popular spots for celebrities of the moment to have their pictures captures and circulated by paparazzi, the relevance of that type of media coverage has dwindled in the age of social media.

Businesses in Beverly Hills, and Los Angeles in general, are also in the midst of contending with a major spike in crime that has left many stores defenseless against mobs of robbers.

Last month, stunned bystanders caught the shocking moment a gang of at least 30 brazen thieves ransacked an Yves Saint Laurent store in an upscale California shopping mall.

Videos posted online showed multiple people in dark clothes, hoods and masks running...

For many decades, liberal elites have been able to exempt themselves from the consequences of the agendas they imposed on others.

They had elite enclaves which were protected, they had extra policing, so that even in the 70’s-90’s when overall crime rates were higher than now, they lived comfortably.

That has all gone. The most elite areas in major cities are now subject to the same deterioration as the rest of those urban areas.

The liberal elites are wealthy enough to move to Aspen and Jackson Hole or whatever, but at least they suffer some personal consequences for what they have done.

So very true. Characteristically, like monks in a medieval cloister, liberals have been accustomed to security and a different physical and mental world than the rest of us. Now destructive criminals intrude, like King Henry’s Protestant looters and upend their cozy and comfortable world.

Their liberal chickens are coming home to roost.

Definition of insanity. Do the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome. They have ruined the major cities in this country. I do not feel sorry for Beverly Hills.

I always hate Daily Mail. (no offense)

It loads too slow on my machine and I can’t get past all the ads.

I’ve yet to see the video lol.

Thanks for posting though. I just always give up when I try to view most of their video content.

If they’d vote for it why does Deep State have to steal California’s elections...?

Well, like the wealthy in other parts of the world, soon they will have oroteced enclaves like Monaco, will live in gated and secure homes and have round the clock security and body guards. Like countries in South America, the wealthy here in the US will be kidnapping/ransome for money targets.
