It’s not just too much salt people consume, but they consume too little Potassium. Potassium is the enemy of Sodium (salt) and helps expel Sodium from the body. If you are taking too much salt, eat bananas to compensate. Also drink plenty of water to help flush the salt out. The less water you drink the more water your body will retain.

Iodized salt is the only kind I use good for you.
The only real way of knowing if you are consuming the correct amount of salt is from a blood test. There are too many individual variables to make a blanket statement.
We have a new doctor since we moved 2 counties east - we were sorta surprised at his suggestion for diet: stay away from processed foods.
if any ingredients we can’t pronounce, back on the shelf it goes. means we shop fresh meat and vegetables (frozen fresh veggies ) cooking takes a little longer.
I use Morton’s lite salt with half the sodium removed.
Increasing potassium intake will offset some excess sodium. And very few people are even getting the 5,000 mg (5 grams) RDA of potassium. It is difficult to get that much potassium in your diet.
I wonder if the problem is as much insufficient potassium as it is excess sodium.
