I’d say you need more than me...

Liquid IV is good if you’ve never tried it.

America’s problem isn’t salt, it’s 6000 calories a day, mainly in sugar and trans fat, and never exercising.
Getting hammered and smoking pot probably don’t help...

One of the biggest offenders is carbonated sodas.

That is very true and people don’t think of sodas as full of sodium. Back in the day it was a small 8 ounce bottle. Now it’s a 16 as the smallest common dose, and 20 is the norm as a drive through window small. 32 is not unheard of and people guzzle down several a day. It’ll wreck your health.

It’s not just too much salt people consume, but they consume too little Potassium. Potassium is the enemy of Sodium (salt) and helps expel Sodium from the body. If you are taking too much salt, eat bananas to compensate. Also drink plenty of water to help flush the salt out. The less water you drink the more water your body will retain.

Amigo, that is a two sentence diagnosis of modern American health that ought to be engraved above the door of every doctor’s office!

“To help keep your levels in check:

Choose fresh meats instead of packaged ones. “

Lol, then I’m just going to season the fresh meat because unseasoned meat sucks.

Carbonated sodas like Coca Cola are considered low sodium. In fact, they are allowed on low sodium diets. Perhaps you are thinking about sugar.

Personally, I see a sedentary lifestyle as being a bigger problem, but…in the end, it is all a personal choice.

The only real way of knowing if you are consuming the correct amount of salt is from a blood test. There are too many individual variables to make a blanket statement.

We have a new doctor since we moved 2 counties east - we were sorta surprised at his suggestion for diet: stay away from processed foods.

if any ingredients we can’t pronounce, back on the shelf it goes. means we shop fresh meat and vegetables (frozen fresh veggies ) cooking takes a little longer.

I use Morton’s lite salt with half the sodium removed.

Increasing potassium intake will offset some excess sodium. And very few people are even getting the 5,000 mg (5 grams) RDA of potassium. It is difficult to get that much potassium in your diet.

I wonder if the problem is as much insufficient potassium as it is excess sodium.

Article: Too much salt can lead to a stroke, heart disease, and high blood pressure. But how do you know if you take in too much salt?

`````````````````````````````````
I’ve been a saltaholic for most of my 78 years and have none of those things.
If salt is gonna kill me, at least I won ‘t die young.
