Meijer is exactly not the type of Republican who should even hold the office of dogcatcher, much less U.S. Senator. We do not need another RINO, particularly one who stabbed Trump in the back. Wikipedia says parents legally changed his last name to “Meyer” so that whatever he achieved in school (and life?) couldn’t be written off as favoritism. He changed it back to “Meijer” when he grew up, and now he’s in politics.

Several offspring of retail leaders have gone into either politics or philanthropy. This helps those who grew up on Old Money to establish their own identity as adults.
I seem to recall someone from the Hudson family becoming a congressman. Hudson used to be one of the main department stores in downtown Detroit, and some areas in Ohio.
