My IQ = 128, when I was @14.
I’m no genius. Most engineers are in that ballpark.

As for languages, I’ve no special skill. I was brought up speaking Spanish, English, and Tagalog, and I am fluent in them solely through circumstances. I have since learned French, well enough to read it effectively (I can read the newspapers, Dumas, Zola, etc., but dont make me do poetry). But I have severe problems with French conversation, no ear for it. With Spanish and French I can make a fair go at reading Italian and on a good day Portuguese. I had a couple of years of Latin. Very little has stuck, my daughter is way better at it. I am learning Basque now. Its going very slowly.

27 Aug: Finally! Ukrainian Challenger Tanks PENETRATE Russian 2nd Line of Defense | Ukraine War

27 Aug: Finally! Ukrainian Challenger Tanks PENETRATE Russian 2nd Line of Defense | Ukraine War

With the death of the Wagner leader in Russia, the first amphibious Ukrainian landing operation in Crimea and the destruction of Russian air defense systems such as the S-400, S-300 in southern Ukraine and the peninsula, the fate of the war has changed.

The Ukrainian army is now taking drastic steps for freedom on the battlefield.

Kiev plans to destroy Russian positions in different sectors of the front by dividing the limited Russian resources.

Under this plan, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are gathering forces for a possible offensive along the Marfopil-Dorozhnianka line in the Zaporizhia region. Kiev is also making unbelievable advances in the Donetsk region.

In today’s agenda, one of the most prominent frontline units of the Ukrainian troops gathering strength is a surprise contingent of Ukrainian troops, which has been cutting through the settlements in and around Zaporizhia with western battle tanks.

The Ukrainian army, which has worked wonders in the triangle of Zaporizhia, Melitopol and Tokmak, made its first breakthrough today with the deployment of a special military unit using Western combat vehicles near Robotyne.

The 82nd Assault Airborne Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, consisting of two thousand soldiers equipped with British Challenger tanks and Marder and Stryker infantry fighting vehicles, landed near Rabotyne, south of Zaporizhzhia region.

This formidable Ukrainian military unit has 90 US Stryker combat vehicles, 40 German-made Marder infantry fighting vehicles, 24 US-made M113 infantry carriers and 14 Challenger tanks from the UK.

According to NATO data, the 82nd battalion alone has half of Ukraine’s best infantry armored vehicles from NATO allies. It is also the only military unit in Ukraine to use Marder and Strkyer vehicles.

Other Ukrainian military units are much less well equipped, often relying on Soviet-era equipment and crowdfunded equipment, while the 82nd Brigade and the 46th Brigade are among the last major formations that the Ukrainian Armed Forces command has in reserve.

In other words, the Ukrainians are putting up their last but biggest and most powerful trump card for a decisive victory.

Already, with the Ukrainian army’s deployment of this special unit, clear victory data has begun to come in.

In line with Kiev’s offensive plans, the 82nd Brigade’s introduction of western combat vehicles has resulted in a 100-kilometer breach of the Russian defense line in and near Zaporizhia.

By finally sending these formations into battle, the Ukrainians significantly increased their firepower along one of the main axes of the counteroffensive.
In particular, the 50-mile axis stretching from Russian-occupied Robotyne to occupied Melitopol, just north of the Black Sea coast, has been turned into a network of attacks on Kiev by the successful offensive operations of the 82nd Brigade.

This brigade’s first move this week was with Stryker combat vehicles.

Footage of a US-supplied Stryker combat vehicle in action in Ukraine surfaced on social media the other day. The video appeared to show a Russian Lancet munition maneuvering a Stryker.

The Strykers were part of Ukraine’s powerhouse 82nd Air Assault Brigade, which was ordered into battle this week to help strengthen the counter-offensive in the southern Zaporizhzhia Region.

So these images showed that Strykers are now on the move in Ukraine, and that advanced US armor was deployed for the first time in recent days in the war against Putin’s invasion.

Alongside the arrival of the Strykers on Ukrainian battlefields, the 71-ton, four-crew Challenger tanks, reinforced with coping cages - turret-mounted cages to protect the vehicles from drone attacks - were also observed on the move for the first time.

Russia appeared to be shaken to its core near Robotyne by the arrival of the battalion using western combat vehicles.

This settlement is now under Ukrainian control. In Mala Tokmachka, near Robotyne, Russian troops still appear to be holding out. However, Ukrainian forces have captured positions on parts of the Russian defensive front after intensive attacks on the Robotyno-Verbove line 21 km southeast of Orikhiv.

Under heavy fire from the 82nd Brigade and other Ukrainian units, part of the Russian defense south of Mala Tokmachka was broken.

Meanwhile, in Verbove, east of Robotyne, the Russian army’s 100th separate reconnaissance battalion and 417th separate reconnaissance battalion continue to abandon some positions there.

Pro-Kremlin blogger Rybar reported that the battalion is having no problem removing Russian units from some positions in the nearby village of Verbove.

I’m just wondering if Saint Zelensky pays her extra for the links?
Either it’s very lucrative or she is bored out of her skull.

You are considerably more obtuse than I presumed. You blatantly wave the Ukraine flag for show, to be seen by others, to demonstrate your support for the “current thing”. And now in a stunning display of complete unawareness and without shame, you think that it’s appropriate to wave a Hawaiian flag for public recognition? In response to my meme exposing your hypocrisy? Even after acknowledging Matthew 6:5?

Sad

Both of your are incredible Freepers.
A appreciate both the wisdom and insight of your comments.

Please just ignore those that only trash the messenger that shares the truthful message.

How sad is that some only are able to negative ‘slash & trash comments toward others. However, most freepers recognize such obvious behavior & separate the ‘wheat from the chaff’ by just skimming over preposterous rhetoric.

Again, I appreciate & thank both of you :)

27 Aug: Genius. Ukrainians Use Thermal Tech to BREAK THROUGH MINEFIELDS | War in Ukraine Explained

Reporting from Ukraine

⚠️ Watch RFU in 20 languages: https://www.youtube.com/@RFU/channels

I am Ukrainian. My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video I will tell you what happened on the five hundred fiftieth day of the war.

Day 550: Aug 27

Today, there are a lot of updates from the Tokmak direction.

Here, after Ukrainians established total control over Robotyne, they immediately started pushing further. The main target of Ukrainians became the next village on the line – Novoprokopivka. However, the fastest way to the settlement was not the shortest.

Russian forces created several fortifications between Robotyne and Novoprokopivka. Ukrainian fighters reported that they were destroying Russian personnel with regular and cluster shells in large numbers. A fighter from the 24th Assault Brigade reported that Russian daily reinforcements reached 60 trucks of troops, so Russian losses on this small section of the front line are mind-boggling.

And such a desperate attempt to slow Ukrainians down is not surprising – if Ukrainians take Novoprokopivka, they will reach the second line of defense. That is why Russians are holding onto these several trench networks and regularly bomb Robotyne to prevent Ukrainians from accumulating forces enough to conduct a powerful attack. Geolocated footage confirms that bombing happens on a regular basis and some state that Russians conduct up to 8 such attacks per day.

Unfortunately for Russians, Ukrainians attacked from a different direction. Due to the constant shelling of the southern part of Robotyne and continuous counterattacks from the Russian side, the Ukrainian command saw that advances in this region would come at an unnecessarily high price. Ukrainians continued imitating attacks near Robotyne to play along with Russian expectations, while in the meantime, Ukrainians gradually accumulated forces in the tree lines east of Robotyne.

As Ukrainians liberated a lot of fields, Russians did not notice the accumulation of a critical number of troops until it was too late. Ukrainians started pushing south parallel to the Robotyne-Novoprokopivka line and gained ground relatively quickly. Soon, Russian sources published footage showing how Russian artillery was shelling Ukrainians more than 2 km south of the previous positions.

The reason why Ukrainians managed to advance here so rapidly is simple. If we look at the topographic map, we can see that Ukrainians moved into the lowlands. Even though Ukrainians were at a tactical disadvantage, Russian forces did not create enough strong points to repel Ukrainian attacks confidently. Russians counted a lot of the mine fields, however, Ukrainians developed a great tactic to tackle this problem much more easily.

As it is very hot during the day, metal absorbs this heat visibly greater than the ground. So, Ukrainians would launch drones with thermal cameras during the day to create a map of mines. This approach allowed to identify trails with virtually no mines or the point at which the mine field is very narrow. Next, Ukrainians would send demining equipment to create a safe pathway, get across the minefield, and assault Russian positions. Ukrainians here also experienced more freedom of operation, as the Russian artillery was too focused on shelling the southern part of Robotyne.

After repeating the processes for several more days, Ukrainians approached Novoprokopivka from the east and conducted the first assault on the village. Two days ago, Russian sources reported that the Russians 56th and 108th regiments lost key positions in the eastern part of the village, which is why Novoprokopivka could already be considered lost. Despite the raised alarm by some Russian media sources, it is too early to consider Novoprokopivka as fallen. Nonetheless, over the last several days, the area of operation of Ukrainian forces shifted south by up to 4 km.

If Ukrainians gain a stable bridgehead inside the village and push Russians out of the western side, Russian forces will automatically lose control over all trenches and fortifications north of Novoprokopivka, and, what is even more important, Ukrainians will reach the second line of defense on a 12-km section simultaneously.

This is very bad news for Russians because as Ukrainians can attack any section, Russians need to stretch their forces evenly and, inevitably, thinly and keep as many troops as possible everywhere at all times. Ukrainians, in turn, just need to find or create a weak link and penetrate the line. Once passed, Ukrainians can clear the line by attacking it from 3 sides.
