If you want the weight of all three together, why did you do three separate weights??

Are you a liberal?

why do you need all the algebra. you know from the from the question that c has to be 4 greater than r. What 2 numbers add up to 10 where one number is 4 greater than the other. the answer is 7 and 3. So C is 7 and R is 3. since c is 7...d has to be 17 to add up to 24. Add all 3 together and you get 27...easy peasy
.

17/7/3

d + c = d + r + 4

Therefore c = r + 4. If c + r = 10, then c = 7 & r = 3

The d must be 17

Kilograms are a measurement of mass, not weight.

x = cat
y = rabbit
z = dog

x + y = 10
z + y = 20
z + x = 24

y = 10 - x
z = 24 - x

(24 - x) + (10 - x) = 20
34 - 2*x = 20
2*x = 34 - 20
2*x = 14
x = 7

y = 10 - 7
y = 3

z = 24 - 7
z = 17

I had to solve it the long way:

c + r = 10
d + r = 20
d + c = 24
2c + 2d + 2r = 54

(2c + 2d + 2r)/2 = 54/2

c + d + r = 27

c = 27 - (d + r)
c = 27 - 20
c = 7

d = 27 - (c + r)
d = 27 - 10
d = 17

r = 27 - (d + c)
r = 27 - 24
r = 3

The cat’s weight is entirely dependent upon whether or not it is sitting on your lap or not.

very direct and easy:

C+R=10
D+R=20
D+C=24

combining all three equations,
2C+2D+sR=54

divide each side by 2,
C+D+R=27

Everyone forgot to convert kilograms to pounds and ounces, because by god, we are not on the metric system, which I would point out was invented by the French.
And in France, they eat all three of the items used in the problem. So it was probably some chef who needed the problem solved.

Should I use Cat weight only or Cat+CatLady weight?

And what is she has, you know, “several” cats? How many of her cats should be included?

I thought this was to be just algebra but it is starting to look a lot more complicated.

Dog is 10 more than cat and together equal 24.
What two numbers are 10 apart and add up to 24? 17 plus 7.
So, dog is 17 and cat is 7.
Dog plus rabbit is 20. 20 less 17 is 3.
So rabbit is 3.
17 plus 7 plus 3 is 27.

That took me about a minute to do in my head, and I have no idea how to do algebra.
