Ceiling fans are now the latest target in the Biden administration’s green agenda, sparking pushback from Republicans and manufacturers.
The Department of Energy is proposing a rule that would require ceiling fans to be more energy efficient, arguing the move would save U.S. households on energy costs.
According to the Energy Department’s analysis, the new rules would save households about $39 over the lifespan of the new energy-efficient fan.
However, the cost to manufacturers associated with the increased equipment will total $86.6 million per year, the department said.
Republicans on the House Committee on Small Business say if the rule goes into effect it could put small manufacturers out of business, given the costs the companies would incur in order to comply with the changes.

A ceiling fan nearly caught fire one time and came close to burning up my Corvette, man!
But seriously....
FJB and the entire Demonrat Party sideways!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have developed a ceiling fan that utilizes the spin of the earth to generate the blades spinning... no energy needed. very cool, but not very cooling
Try and take my ceiling fans away, you bottom-drawer imbeciles. I got them in the first place because they create their own wind chill factor, enabling me to set my a/c higher and still feel cool—>saving energy. I set up my home to be very energy efficient—shutters, LED lighting, timers, solar powered fountain, etc. So take your idiotic hair splitting and kindly step into a woodchipper.
FJB and FHA. It’s time for the public to realign his priorities.
Toilets are next.
It is all about inconveniencing and tormenting people. FJB is not giving up the air conditioner knob in his Corvette!
What a bunch of nimrods.
Ceiling fans are a wonderful way of avoiding turning on the air-conditioning in many cases. We have ceiling fans throughout the house and it is comfortable enough that we don’t turn on the air unless it’s one of those very hot and humid few days here and there.
How do you make it more energy efficient lol? Oh I know, hand operated fans, right? Idiots.
“Republicans on the House Committee on Small Business say if the rule goes into effect it could put small manufacturers out of business, given the costs the companies would incur in order to comply with the changes.”
You should know by now... that it’s not really about “energy efficiency”. It’s about driving small manufacturers and small business owners out of business...since most of the big ones are owned and controlled already by big “G”. Remember, to these morons, Capitalism is eeeevil.
But its a slippery to slope to full on ceiling fan ban...
Is there no end to this stupidity?
“So take your idiotic hair splitting and kindly step into a woodchipper.”
They’re not going to step in. You’re going to have to shove them.
Is that a full auto ceiling fan?
I have every ceiling fan on all day and night while we are in the 100’s every day. It helps a lot.
A ceiling fan with a brushless DC motor will be more efficient but probably going to cost 3 or 4 times as much. If you run the fan a lot, it might be worth it, but I doubt you would notice the difference very much unless you run a lot of ceiling fans in your house most of the time. My old Hunter cast iron ceiling fan will still be working when I am long gone.
Give us Trump's economy back and I'll save more than $39 every month.
I’ve had my existing 4 ceiling fans for 34 years. So I could have saved almost a dollar a year each if I had FJB fans installed.
Our high capacity ceiling fans are fully semiautomatic.
