PING!.....................
Oh my. And I just got a 14. Eliminating lightning would be awesome.
USB!!! Yay!!! Reason enough to stand in line overnight and spend $1,200+. 😂 Let’s see how many people have that kind of money.
Beginning with the iPhone 14, there is no longer a physical SIM tray, either.
They’ll switch to USB-C.
But, it won’t have “fast charge” capability.
IPhones will come with 2 charge-ports and 1 Apple cable.
If you want USB-C, get your own slow-charge cable.
I can see the USB-C port being in an awkward spot and covered, too.
USB-C is an upgrade ?
This was ordered by Europe. Europe had a problem with Apple using proprietary parts that were three times the price what Android charging ports were.
Standardization benefits users. Uniqueness benefits manufacturers. Axiomatic.
If they must go away from the ultra reliable lightning port, USB-C in probably the next most durable connection.
Huh? The port on the phone doesn't have anything to do with the charger. Apple's own chargers have USB-C on the charger side and a USB-C to Lightning cable to connect to the phone. You can also buy a USB-A to Lightning cable -- Walmart seems to have them in every color of the rainbow -- to connect your iphone to any USB-A power source you happen to have handy.
But will it have Tint Control?
Pretty sure Android has had these for years.
Never understood why Apple kept lightning so long (besides the obvious ‘only we own it’ thing). Their laptops mostly switched to USB-C, and for some, all they have is two USB-C ports. No regular USB, no hdmi or displayport output, just one or two USB-C plugs so you still have to buy an adaptor hub to be able to plug anything more than the power in. And iPads have mostly switched, so why wouldn’t the phones have gone at the same time?
