I wondered if this would happen. Cuba's first time in Williamsport. Why would you go home?
It would be funny if the entire team refused to go home. The MSM would have a fit. The MLB scouts would love it.
But they have such superior health care in Cuba. Why would they want to defect?
Probably right now headed to New York City and join the happy throng of homeless people getting a free meal, a cell phone, an card with money on it, and a promise to vote for Joe Biden.

The Cuban head coach was in the gift shop the other day and wanted to buy a t-shirt to take home. Cost was $24 (his monthly pay). The Australian coach was there and quietly bought shirts for all the Cuban coaches.

I don’t consider him an illegal immigrant. He’s defecting from a communist country and came here legally.
I guess I should have put in a /s tag. Though it is kind of a gray area, since he was granted entry as a visiting Cuban citizen, not as an immigrant.
In any case, I wish him the best. I have nothing against Cuban refugees in general; my sister’s first husband fled the Castro regime as a teenager in the ‘60s and eventually became a naturalized citizen and a professor at a major university.

If he’s hurting for money, needs a phone, transportation, housing, a work permit and free food, he should make his way down to the southern border and claim asylum. Merely defecting won’t get him the swag bag of goodies the illegals get.

Yep. Hopefully he doesn’t have much family in Cuba. What something like this would show regardless is the sheer desperation.
I wonder if Americans will be allowed out of the USA in 30 years? Because that’s where we’re heading.
