(NerdWallet) – Federal student loan repayment resumes in the coming months - interest begins accruing in September, with payments starting in October - after a 3½-year payment pause. According to a new NerdWallet survey, most federal student loan borrowers (88%) didn’t make payments during the pandemic forbearance. If you’re one of these borrowers, here are five steps to prepare for repayment.

1. Know your details

2. Decide on a payment plan

3. Review your budget

4. Understand the downside of not making payments

5. Set up autopay

...didn’t make payments...

But they saved that loot as if they really paid the bill, right? What an advantage.

I thought Biden waived the student loans. Or will be.

Step 1. Sue your college for not providing you an education that makes you possible to understand basic economics and how loans work.

Nothing triggers the deadbeat student loan borrowers more than a baby boomer suggesting they pass up their daily double shot soy mocha lattes.

Same here - also stayed at home to save money and did worked close to full time to while going to college.

Had a friend that racked up low 6 figures in student loans while going to college on a full scholarship because his GF, then wife, now divorced, talked him into it to furnish and pay for their off campus rental house. Then she had them forbear their loans for almost a decade because “they couldn’t afford it”.

So we are talking 3 and a half years of suspended payments. wtf. and these leeches, 2/3s of which are liberal women holding the debt, thought they would just get a bail out from plumbers, electricians, and laborers?

The real shame for many who have these loans is that they were already on fullride scholarships for sports, and had no legimate reason relating to education for their loans.

When I was in Guyana, the school administration called me the second year from East Carolina University and told me my son’s admission pack was being held up pending my signature on the “school loan application”. My wife and I paid cash gobbling up our foreign service paychecks, along with the college IRA’s to pay in full his education, without any loans.

After some dicussion, they told me that the student loan application was given to every student and they expeceted them to sign and get their parents to sign for them and I continued to refuse. They tried to impose their sales BS upon me by guilting me for depriving my kids from having the money other kids were spending. HA!

Oh, and part of the reason this is such a bid deal to democrats (and a wedge issue) is that parents who signed for these loans expected their kids to pay them off, instead of still living in their basements. He had no loan, and he drove the same car for 10 years until an auto accident. It nearly killed me to pay for two BA, and a MBA, but in his third job with Amazon Web Services he has made over $975,000 in 37 months. It has paid for itself, and now my son is helping my second son take a second shot at college 10 years later.

Greed is the destroyer of Government and to a man, their family, their soul.

“Nothing triggers the deadbeat student loan borrowers more than a baby boomer...”

Actually, baby boomers who have paid on their student loans long enough get their loans paid off for free.

I should have specified debt-free boomers. The number of boomers who owe money for outstanding student loans is disturbing.

“The number of boomers who owe money for outstanding student loans is disturbing.”

They owe no more. If they held a student loan for 20 years or more the loan is gone now.

Not enough coffee yet.

I read no.5 as Set up AUTOPSY. Even worse it actually made sense for a couple of seconds.
