Not a Mustang. Mustangs are small, sleek, electric minivans.

Just finished reading
The Drive's stories about the GTD.
It is the real deal and can be yours for the low, low price of $300,000.
That is, if you make the cut for the waiting list.
I guess Ford didn't want to launch a third generation of GT, so they are building this instead.

the rumor about a mid-engine Mustang was true. No, it’s not going to have its engine relocated to the rear; rather, the engine will stay up front More lies.
A "mid-engine" car does not have the engine "up front".
Like the Pantera, the GT40, the new Corvette, Indy and F1 cars...the engine is bolted to the rear mounted trans-axle, and located right behind the driver.

if you’re a Mustang fan and have always dreamed of a road-going Mustang race car, then the Mustang GTD is your ticket. No true Mustang fan wants this. Simple, longitudinally-mounted engines shafted to a solid axles is what Mustangs are really all about.

Another goofy looking Hot Wheels, built by UAW drunks?

The now defunct Hi-Po 2.3L EcoBoost would also be a great engine option IMHO.
200 lbs lighter, at least, that opens up the door for a rally version, with that lighter-weight, with a E-FWD unit using the braking energy and only and a small battery.
The E-Drive on the @$$ end of the Mach-E impressed that stink out of Sandy Munro, that's 200hp ish so use that.
Oh man, no one could catch you out of the corners.
