California keeps electing progressive DAs — then pushing to recall them

OAKLAND, Calif. - The top prosecutor for a San Francisco Bay Area county was playing defense as she absorbed criticism from furious residents of its largest city - a tense meeting that felt like a proxy for a mounting recall fight.

People packed a church in an affluent Oakland neighborhood in late July to demand progressive Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price answer for disturbingly pervasive carjackings and assaults, often shouting questions over her answers.

“I voted for you, but I don’t feel safe here,” said a woman who described being pulled out of her car, at gunpoint, on a recent morning.

But Price had some backup, supporters - some summoned by a social media post urging them to “show up in force” and challenge “opponents of criminal justice reform” - were at the church to insist that Price was being unjustly maligned for enduring problem.

The vitriolic, chaotic town hall had the feel of a campaign event - and it may well have previewed California’s third attempted recall of a reform-minded prosecutor in less than 18 months, including the successful ouster of District Attorney Chesa Boudin just a dozen miles away in San Francisco. In an illustration of the state’s uneasy embrace of criminal justice reform, voters in Democratic strongholds have repeatedly elected prosecutors vowing to transform the system and then moved to oust those DAs before they finish their first term.

In California, elections are stolen, the people try to recall the crooks, and the recall vote is stolen. That was happening before Trump took office.

Rush properly called them ‘low info voters’. Most of them don’t really know who and what they’re voting for, but they whole heartedly believe the propaganda spewed by democrats that they should NEVER vote for any republican and they should ALWAYS vote for a democrat. That’s about as deep as their politics really go.

Intellectually lazy people are easy to inveigle.

This is why conservatives are hopeless

“Those damn people keep voting for Democrats and we know this to be true because the Democrats keep winning and obviously those results are legit and there has been no evidence of voter fraud in the USA in the last few years so we cannot question those resultx”

Could it be that they are being selected, and not elected, and the recall is the truth that they were not elected by the people at all?

I think the majority who have answered so far agree, that the people are not electing these people. recall is the truth that sort of confirms that speculation. Thought the recall rarely works anymore.

I think it started with Proposition 13. The elites of the state decided "never again," and began to make systemic changes.

My solid red county in California runs the same way as Alameda. The county officials are basically one big club. The Board of Supervisors endorse each other and when there’s an open seat, they all endorse one candidate. Other officials, like the DA and sheriff, are elected without credible opposition and when they retire, every county official endorses the loyal brown-nosing assistant. No challenger can get money or endorsements needed to mount a serious campaign. Although my county votes red, the power structure is RINO and rolls over for Sacramento.

If the county culture is Marxist, like Alameda, the only people that will have a chance to win are going to be sufficiently Marxist. Recall the DA? The replacement on the ballot that has strong support is the loyal assistant, backed up by the county power structure.

"I voted for you!"

Yeah, that's the magic phrase. Stop it. I'm getting misty.

We’re still using paper ballots and markers where I vote in Cal. No dominion machines here that I know of.

During an election many, many years ago, a full, locked ballot box was found floating in San Francisco Bay. The talking heads announced it the same way they announce ‘there is traffic on the bridge.’ No follow up, no curiosity. No one even asked if they eventually unlocked the box and counted the votes.

Two more wonderful San Francisco talking head stories.

A very funny, and brave, teleprompter writer decided to be creative with the reported names in an aircraft incident. The talking head just read these names as they appeared:
Sum Ting Wong
Wi Tu Lo
Ho Lee Fuk

Also, long before AlGore’s Internet allowed us to check traffic, I remember listening on the radio to the traffic reports in the Bay Area. Once again, the talker was just reading what was put in front of them. They reported “a significant spill of chemicals and white powder on the freeway; freeway workers are on their way with straws.” Creative writing at its finest.

That is because democracy is a failed method for picking leaders since most voters are emotional idiots.

Maybe California is not “electing” these people. Maybe they are installed.

Ther simple formula is the more of them you take off the streets, the less crime there is. The more you “reform” to keep them in free society, the more crime there is. Voters can’t have it both ways. Either get rid of her and get them off the street or keep her, stop whining and accept your fate of living in fear.
