No, the problem here is the female cop was speaking the armed suspect like he was 10 years old while allowing the armed suspect to get way too close to her. That's why the suspect was not "Seriously hurt" because she only started firing at the suspect until he was on her, tenderizing her with a hammer.
Just a guess, but that would have a tendency to compromise your shot group. ☺

that may be. My point is the lack of incapacitation. That officer who got shot 4 times 9mm and ran back to his car.
Same shooting, hammer man just keeps hitting you.
To take an extreme example, 4 rounds from 454 Casull will do better.

Not a maybe...The video is clear in that regard.
That’s why cops are trained not allow a suspect, especially an *armed* suspect, get that close.
That’s just plain stupid, and why lot of cops end up dead by ignoring their training.

You are right. Once inside 20 feet I believe the training is that gunshots will not stop them before they reach you.
It would be interesting if they ever release details on the perps gunshot wounds.
Going back to the Michael Brown shooting, multiple hits with a 40, and only the last to the top of the head was incapacitating.
"Scholars" are getting bigger, fatter, and more drugged, and police need more powerful sidearms.
