You are right. Once inside 20 feet I believe the training is that gunshots will not stop them before they reach you.

It would be interesting if they ever release details on the perps gunshot wounds.

Going back to the Michael Brown shooting, multiple hits with a 40, and only the last to the top of the head was incapacitating.

"Scholars" are getting bigger, fatter, and more drugged, and police need more powerful sidearms.
