A new report concluded that despite his denials, Alec Baldwin had to pull the trigger of the gun that fired on the set of "Rust" in October 2021.
The shooting led to the death of Halyna Hutchins, and a yearslong legal battle has ensued as investigators work to find justice for the cinematographer.
As the film's armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed gears up for her scheduled December trial, her legal team focused on a new report from independent forensic firearm experts. Lucien Haag and Mike Haag, who were commissioned by the prosecution, concluded that Baldwin had to pull the trigger of the gun in order for it to fire.

I tell you, nothing gets past these rocket scientists. I long ago concluded the gun fired itself; this reveals how little I know about guns.
Nope. Another case of the masterminds using a fake story to eclipse the real story: Hutchins was resorting to this low-budget POS with Baldwin because Hollywood predators had driven her out of mainstream productions.

That article DOES say this: “She initially worked as an investigative journalist and then she went on to documentary films because she wanted to explore further the horrors of the world and expose them with direct evidence.”
But she was not presently working on any child-trafficking film, nor sharing with anyone (including her agent) any specific plan to do one.
He had to have pulled the trigger.

What? I thought guns fired themselves?
I think the knucklehead grasped the handgun and depressed the trigger in his grip. He then pulled back the hammer and let it fly setting off the round. He honestly doesn’t remember pulling the trigger because the idiot knows nothing about safe handling.
I had read he was versed in handling firearms from previous movies but I do agree his arrogance is probably what defeated him.
It was only a matter of time after that.
Ah - I had seen that several places. Thanks for the correction!
Hollywood is an evil slaughterhouse.
Baldwin and his wife having dinner at a tavern in full view of the press just after he shot Halyna was disgusting. The way he had his hand over his eyes, looking like he was sad while he was perusing the menu was just disgusting. I hope he loses everything.
any one of us would have been in jail last year.....
I can’t stand the sight of the effing guy but he’s not guilty of anything. Somebody who was supposed to know gave him a gun that he was told was loaded with blanks. He’s an actor not a gun smith. It was an accident.
But not Arec for pulling the trigger while he thumbed the hammer, which is what we all were saying was the only way the gun went off.
Live ammunition should never have been in the gun in the first place, and never had been allowed anywhere on set.
I didn’t think that was ever in question.
Disagree.
I know you do, and we have discussed this in the past.
Disagree, however thanks for your comment.
...ahhh,no as an actor even with a prop gun never points it at a human! Poi t it away from the target a d let the camera angle fool the audience... standard procedure.
It is the duty of the actor to check the cylinder when handed a firearm. This was a dry run for the scene and there should not even have been blanks in the gun.
When will Jussie go to prison?
(That’s a rhetorical question)
It was still an accident even though tragic. It happens.
That's where we disagree. It is the duty of the actor to act. It is the duty of the armorer to check the weapon.
Is it the actor's duty to check the fluid level in the master cylinder before driving a car in a scene? Is it the duty of the actor to check the inflation of the crash bag before pushing a stunt person off the roof?
There's a reason why you hire an Armorer on a movie set, and the one hired for this production was a first-time head armorer who was also performing regular prop master duties.
