That was back in the day when there was some modicum of respect for one's colleagues, regardless of which side of the aisle they were sitting on. Gingrich might have secretly despised Pelosi and all she stood for but he was going to take the high road away from that bitterness.

Newt is right about the bitterness. I’ll go further and say that if the Democrats succeed in what they are attempting to do, I think it will generate assassinations of Democrat politicians. The political atmosphere of the country is by far the worst of my entire life. I hope people manage to keep their homicidal urges under control.
