Error and Fraud at Issue as Absentee Voting Rises
New York Times ^ | October 6, 2012 | ADAM LIPTAK

Yet votes cast by mail are less likely to be counted, more likely to be compromised and more likely to be contested than those cast in a voting booth, statistics show. Election officials reject almost 2 percent of ballots cast by mail, double the rate for in-person voting.

“The more people you force to vote by mail,” Mr. Sancho said, “the more invalid ballots you will generate.”

Election experts say the challenges created by mailed ballots could well affect outcomes this fall and beyond. If the contests next month are close enough to be within what election lawyers call the margin of litigation, the grounds on which they will be fought will not be hanging chads but ballots cast away from the voting booth.

The trend will probably result in more uncounted votes, and it increases the potential for fraud. While fraud in voting by mail is far less common than innocent errors, it is vastly more prevalent than the in-person voting fraud that has attracted far more attention, election administrators say.

Sounds like NYT is just trying to make the case of “that’s the normal error you get when.....”

The error would be down to near zero if all the ballot signatures were compared against the registered voters’ signatures. There’s a reason why Soros funded a crapload of Secretaries of State across the country.

It sounds to me like they’re saying the “normal error” is undercounting votes. They basically are countering conservatives who say that vote by mail adds fake ballots. The NYT is saying, “uh-uh, vote by mail is disenfranchising by removing ballots”.

“While fraud in voting by mail is far less common than innocent errors,...”

Mail in ballots are rife with fraud. Every election the Rats swarm the nursing homes and “help” the people vote. And it just gets more blatant as people turn in THOUSANDS of ballots all done in the same handwriting with forged signatures and non-existent address or 25 people who claim an address at the same single family house.

I might believe part of that if it weren’t for the fact that mail in ballots far outpace regular votes in Democrat strongholds, IMO. The only way to stop the fraud is to compare signatures on EVERY mail-in ballot.

A modest proposal: If you choose to vote absentee, you forfeit your right to a completely secret ballot.

Your ballot will have a serial number that is connected to your signature envelope.

If your signature is subsequently successfully challenged, the votes cast on the associated ballot can be removed from the tally.

Only the election officials will have controlled access to the ballot serial number database, so not just any volunteer election worker can “look up” who cast which ballot.

“Election experts say the challenges created by mailed ballots could well affect outcomes this fall and beyond.”

When the Democrats targeted the vulnerable swing state in 2020 and won the election why wouldn’t they use those tactics in 2024. And the Mitch McComical led Republicans will wring their hands and moan: Just wait til the next election. It will be a Red wave.

Election officials reject almost 2 percent of ballots cast by mail...

So why did they NOT reject the hundreds of thousands of fake votes dumped in hours to days after the deadlines in 2020?

Hello! This is what we’ve been saying.

Absentee voting shoudl be extremely limited — our troops and people who ar ephysically unable to get to teh polls. Nobody else. And it should be verifiable.
