MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - A fifth suspect in the Montgomery riverfront brawl investigation has been arrested nearly a week after the incident captured national attention. On Friday, Montgomery police said Reggie Ray, 42, turned himself in. His surrender came days after law enforcement requested he come forward.
Ray is alleged to be the person seen on video hitting someone with a folding chair. He’s now being held in the Montgomery Municipal Jail on a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge.

They destroyed their own local business over a designated spot for the town boat.
Stupid human beings. I’m glad they got their asses kicked.
It is getting so bad that you cannot have a nice little brawl without the cops getting involved.
What is wrong with hitting someone with a chair? I have seen John Wayne do it and have seen him getting hit with one.
sheesh!
Reggie has been voted Chairman of the Boardwalk.
Reggie must be a Mick Foley fan.
At least Reggie realized it was better to swing the chair than be hit by the chair. Mick ain’t doing so well these days.
what business is that ?
Looks like both sides gave as good as the took. A right and proper donnybrook IMHO. No real injuries just send everyone with a bag of ice and call it a day.
I think the only guy that should be prosecuted is the guy who through the first punch at the security guy.
The boat owner owns Vasser’s Mini Mart in Selma. My guess is that he will no longer have any black customers and many white customers will shop elsewhere.
It was doing well enough for him to buy a boat and he now may lose it.
thanks
He thought he was on Jerry Springer.
Fool’s names and Fool’s faces always appear in public places.
The aggressors of the brawl should have to pay all damages for starting the fight and compensate every boat passenger for the delay and stress of the situation. Seniors and disabled people were captive due to the small private boat’s poor judgment.any future business loss by the riverboat should also be considered. I hope this stupidity bankrupts these idiots and serves as a warning to everyone to stop and act responsibly.
It is probably not the best way to promote a business in Selma.
I just imagine what he, or one of his boys, was thinking.
The boat had a right to dock their by town statute, because it was a tourist boat, as I understand it. So, there was no arguement to be had.
Back in the ‘50s and “60s brawls were usually allowed to work themselves out as long as the damages were paid for and no major injuries occurred. Some of my best childhood friends were made during a fight.
True, some of the best friendships came from guys that first fought each other.
I remember some Catholic schools back in the day would give students who had a grudge against each other boxing gloves, and they would box each other. And the end result was usually the two gaining mutual respect and becoming friends.
“I think the only guy that should be prosecuted is the guy who through the first punch at the security guy.”
He should be prosecuted but so should the guy with the chair. Everyone else was fighting bare handed but he grabbed a weapon and got involved. He even viciously beat an older woman who was sitting on the ground. See video:
He should be charged with aggravated battery for that.
Watch the entire incident from beginning to end. First of all, the dock is a public dock and no sign designated it to be specifically for that big party boat. No excuse for most of the violence though I had read (but not seen) that the big “guard” guy that untied the other peoples’ boat in the first place had shoved the wife of the guy that came down the ramp and went at the dock guy. I don’t know that he was a security guard or just someone that worked for the boat company.
I bet you dollars to donuts that no black people are charged for anything, even if they participated in the brawl. Only whitey can be charged.
“I bet you dollars to donuts that no black people are charged for anything..”
If only there were an article posted that provided the demographic information on any of the five people that have been charged in the incident in Montgomery.
