Now I am seeing online complaints from members of civilian rescue organizations that the PLA (Peoples Liberation Army) is pushing them out of certain sectors and clamping down on news reports out of the flooded area. Local (Chinese) speculation is that the CCP doesn't want pictures of bodies floating in the current to get out.
I am also seeing reports that a good bit of Hebei Province (the area around and to the immediate south of Beijing) is being sacrificed to flood waters to protect Beijing and its immediate suburbs. This would be like flooding the Imperial valley to protect the San Francisco Bay area. There is one report of parts of Zhuozhou (612K pop) immediately SW of Beijing in Hebei Province are under 12 meters of water. There was even a report that said Zhuozhou got off easy. This is not sitting well with the locals.
There are whole cities under 2-4 meters of water in addition to some of the most productive farmland in China.
On top of that, there is a new typhoon pushing up the Korean peninsular. It should be hitting an already water logged NE China now.
More as this develops.

What does that mean in English? My frame of reference is feet and inches. And engines in cubic inches.
Also reports that dikes built by the locals were taken down by the PLA in order to ensure the planned diversions occurred and there was some reports of conflict between locals and emergency/PLA workers.
