Caleb White, an Alabama high school basketball star, has died after he reportedly collapsed during a workout at school.

The 17-year-old was pronounced dead at a local hospital Thursday, according to multiple reports.

White was a three-star prospect and averaged 20.9 points, 3.1 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game.

The cause of death is currently unknown, however AL.com reports an autopsy will be performed Friday to determine it.

White was said to have collapsed during a workout with his team at Pinson Valley High School Thursday before he was taken to St. Vincent's East hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.

His grandfather George Varnadoe Jr. posted a touching tribute on Facebook following the news.

'Caleb was an honor student, very respectful, high intellect, excellent role model, phenomenal basketball player, ranked 25th best point guard in his class in the nation and No. 2 in the state of Alabama. RIP Caleb. I love you man.'

The school's principal Michael Turner released a statement shared with parents after the tragedy.

'I unfortunately have some very sad news to report tonight,' Turner wrote. 'One of our senior students suffered a medical emergency at school today. Life saving efforts were immediately started and first responders were called.

'Sadly, the student was later pronounced deceased after being transported to the hospital. Out of respect for the family, we are not releasing the name of the student at this time,' he said.

'We will have more to say in the near future. Please know counseling resources will be available for anyone who needs them in the coming days. Please keep the student's family and our school in your prayers.'

Hidden, discovered? Probably not. There is much evidence now that increased physical activity exacerbates the effects of the clotshots. Athletes are the first being obviously affected. Note the reporting from the Eurotrashes: Something over 1,000 soccer players have died in the past two years with another 500+ having serious health problems.

One of my lifetime classmates died a couple months ago. Travelled a bit so he had the clotshots. NFL HOFer in great shape. First his legs started failing. Three months in his heart started stalling. They knocked him out to do open-heart stuff and he never woke up.

I’m afraid we’re seeing just the start of the coming damage and it will affect our best first.

Really? We had them mandatory every year before football starting in 7th grade (‘91) all the way through HS. Texas.

When are the censors going to admit that the people of the world have a real problem due to the COVID jabs? Young active healthy people are dying at an unprecedented rate.

At one point in my career, I was knowledgeable about sudden cardiac death in athletes (it’s a thing). My angle was, “what testing can/should be done to identify potential sudden death in young athletes?” - and the answer then, as now, is “nothing”.

In the 1970s, when I was still doing that stuff, the most common thing a relative of a sudden cardiac death victim would say was, “But he just had a checkup!”

Lots of athletes who die suddenly have hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and abnormal EKGs, but most athletes with those things don’t die.

Good question. Starting in 10th grade (when I was growing up 7-9 were together and then 10-12 was HS) it was at school. Football is religion in west Texas and they didn’t F around at the HS level. JR high you had to bring a slip to coach after getting one on your own.

They should just have a link to Jim Carroll’s “People Who Died” on these threads.

I’m thinking maybe my mom sent in my normal doctor physical to the school?

I’m looking at the school district website and it states physicals are mandatory.

If it’s just a general physical, would they even catch most issues?

That’s right perfectly normal for top young athletes to be dropping dead. Happens all the time. At least it does these days.

Ya know; If I was a sports coach who actually cared about my players, I think I’d be quitting my job now, because I couldn’t bear to watch as my players drop dead, and couldn’t help but wonder if my pushing them to become stronger and faster might be at least in part to blame for their dying on the court or field.

Last one ended up with a birth defect. But why do we need to know every death on earth? It used to be celebrities. Now it’s little billy down the road at someone’s neighborhood.

I don’t think so. I don’t recall the physical being very in-depth. Vitals, listen to your heart and the ‘ol turn and cough, don’t remember much else.

Maybe you had an annual visit and those records were sufficient?

I finished HS at a military prep school in CT and they were super under the hood there and took everyone’s health very seriously but most everyone was going to the academies, etc upon graduation and I think were padding the files big.

A small town I used to live in had a family with 2 brothers who dies from sudden cardiac problems while in competitive swimming. Not even at high school level - might have been YMCA.

The younger brother passed about 3 years after the older one, doing the same competition. We knew the parents, and they had talked about what a hard decision it was to have the younger one follow the same path. After the 2nd boy passed, the parents moved away and did not keep in contact with anybody in town.

It gets posted here because many here are suspicious of the vaccine. If this young athlete had been shot it would be a national news story for days and days. Now why is that?

My Mother taught at Pinson Elementary School for many years.   Population of Pinson, Alabama is 7,215.   My Grandparents had moved out to Pinson in the 1960's when the I-20 right of way took their amazing home on 1st Avenue South in town.
