On Tuesday, Ohio voters resoundingly rejected Issue One, an attempt by Republican legislators to change the rules of the state's ballot initiative process designed to sabotage an upcoming vote on an amendment to protect reproductive rights.
Republicans had clearly hoped that this rules change would fly under the radar in a low-turnout August vote. It didn't pan out that way. Activists on the ground in Ohio recognized the threat, mobilized to get national attention, and successfully got out the vote around the state. Our organization, , was one of several national networks to support them. Once again, the pro-choice, pro-democracy side won out.
It's becoming clear: a little more than a year after the overturned Roe v. Wade, the decision has created an electoral undertow that is pulling out to sea. One might dismiss a single referendum, special election, or midterm as a fluke. But the aggregate data of the last 14 months paints a clear picture.

dealing with it is part of saving western civilization.
It’s amazing how we as civilized people can murder little humans,
knowing they are healthy. What happened to us ,as a species?
Abortion is not an issue the Left really cares about, but it is a great tool/weapon to stir emotions. The left is constantly agitating using one issue or another to shift attention away from what’s really going on and what they are really doing. The agenda the Left wishes to impose on America is not one they want the public to take a close look at, hence the agitation. Getting people stirred up enough about something is all about getting people to vote emotionally. This does away with critical thinking, honest assessment of candidates, and any analysis of the agenda that’s really being pushed.
Same ‘ol, same ‘ol. Republican activism does not exist. Ronna McRomBush all over it.
THAT is what I've been harping about for two days now..
Over the past three weeks I received many fliers in the mail telling me to vote no on issue one.. I think it was the day before the election that I received THREE fliers telling me to vote yes.. THREE on the same day.!!
I don't know.....maybe the U.S. mail has gone the way of the FIB, CIA and all the other three letter crime mobs in DC.. Or, we republicans are just a bunch dumb saps who can seem to do ANYTHING right... :(
The way Democrats win with abortion is simple: forty million aborted babies will mail in their ballots.
Rlsau1-you are very smart.
Abortion is out of the constitution. It’s over
‘Same day in person paper ballotts hand counted or the country is lost.’
why stop with that...? if you really want to restrict access, go back to the early 1780’s when only landed gentry could vote...
[[But paganism and amorality reign supreme in the “land of the free, home of the brave”.]]
It reigned Supreme in biblical days too, when society was totally depraved, and so was the king at the time but God still put into power whomever he wanted for his own purposes. Even when all looked hopeless, he installed godly kings from time to time to undo the evil that previous kings had brought on the nation-,
Nothing new under the sun- societies way back when used to murder their children in sacrifices to false gods. Today selfish parents murder their unborn to the false gods of pleasure and irresponsibiity
‘...Erosion of Biblical values...’
if you are equating a pro life, pro child agenda with Holy Writ, I suggest you look up any number of verses in the OT that record, in great detail, willfully killing children to acheive divine favor...and then generate a discussion about how child friendly the Bible actually is...
‘Abortion is not an issue the Left really cares about...’
really...? you should go to any left wing forum, latch onto a discussion about abortion, and fully absorb the vitriol that young women exhibit about any pullback of what they see as their ‘reproductive destiny...’
to these individuals, who by the way constitute an ever expanding voting bloc, a child in the womb is no such thing, it is instead a growth that is leaching nutrients from the women who carry them, a parasite so to speak, and they fervently resent protection being offered to these ‘growths...’
‘Abortion is out of the constitution. It’s over’
oh is that so...? FWIW, we could have no abortions occurring at all in actuality, but the notion of it as a ‘protected right’ will always be there, and always ready as an deployable tool to acheive a desired political result...
the actual killing they could not care less about; to them, in particular young women of childbearing age, it’s the threat of loss of power and influence that throws them into a dithering rage...
Unless and until we repent and return to God, our decline will accelerate.
The first crime committed by one human person against another was murder.
Why not? Voting by "takers" is destroying America.
there was an attempt at one time to get a constitutional amendment that stated that elections for senators, house of representatives and president could be the only thing on the ballot. That way the people interested and informed would be voting for the national offices, not people who were going to the polls to defeat or endorse a local matter and just filled in the rest of the ballot.
I’d like to see that amendment.
‘Why not? Voting by “takers” is destroying America.’
the remark was meant to highlight the problem the pubbies have; they cannot win the popular vote in presidential elections...
the party that cannot do this is left with one resort; restrict access...and while we’re on the subject, if the pubbies could win national elections, people on this website would be all for unfettered election participation, to protect that advantage...
That is why Republicans MUST try to keep the focus on State Rights vs. Federal Rights.

This is a moral issue too. And just like the abortion debate, history has proven that US Citizens have supported a ton of centralized authority. In fact, I’d argue the “states rights” moral argument has been lost to a far greater degree than the abortion debate. Is there any dimension of civic life in which the Federal government hasn’t usurped issues out of the realms states?
I mean they [The Feds] may allow people to decide which counties are wet and which are dry...or how many deer you can kill during hunting season, but on the profound issues...Our country doesn’t have a strong recent history of leaving those to the states. Even the recent Roe vs. Wade decision is an issue that the Feds are licking their chops at a chance to reverse in the future. They won’t give up.
