Does anyone remember a time before milli vanilli, before autotune, a time when rock bands were actually really talented musicians ?

There was a lot of really greatness in music before the 90s and I just give this as an example, but could easily give you a hundred more.

but I just don't see it today, and I don't know why.

Am I just missing all of today's talent somehow or has something changed?

How do you expect we ever replicate the great bands and musicians of the past. They pretty much practiced every day for years.

Today’s “musicians” are too busy on their phones to practice.

Hopefully your husband wasn’t as anal-retentive as Daniel Stern in “Diner”

Now, the weird chanting and yelling over coputer drum tacks (inner city rap?) seems to be the rage. And millennials wonder why we laugh at them?

I feel sorry for them, imagine that crap as the soundtrack of your life.

Better if these inner city kids were listening to classic Parliament/Funkadelic than whatever that crap they listen now.

I had an opportunity to talk with Robben Ford a few years ago. He told me that for one of his albums he hired the best studio musicians he could afford for his Tiger Walk album, and he couldn’t afford to keep them too long. He could only afford one day.

I asked him how many takes he had to do on Tiger Walk and he said there was only one take and that’s what ended up on the album.

The difference between the Wreking Crew and what he did was that the musicians he hired were named on the album.

Judge for yourself. Ken Hensley if still around would tell you himself he’s no great singer, and not even a top keyboardist, and yet...

(Slow tune until the end. I love the way it builds.)

Hensley died a couple years ago, putting out good stuff until the end...
