NewsNation’s exclusive interview with UFO whistleblower David Grusch sparked international attention with his claim the U.S. government has secretly been in possession of nonhuman spacecraft. Investigative journalist Ross Coulthart says Grusch believes the government may now be behind an effort to release his medical records in an effort to smear his credibility.
In a statement to NewsNation, Grusch said he learned The Intercept intends to publish an article that highlights previous struggles he had with post traumatic stress disorder, grief and depression, specifically incidents in 2014 and 2018. Coulthart thinks someone in the intelligence community leaked Grusch’s medical records to the outlet.
“A temporary detention order transferred (Grusch) to a psychiatric unit and inpatient program where he got the treatment that he needed. This is a document, that if the media had done the right thing, would be in his police department file in the county sheriff’s office,” Coulthart told NewsNation host Chris Cuomo on Tuesday.
Coulthart continued: “Dave checked today because he assumed that the journalist had done his homework and just asked the local sheriff for the files. The sheriff has confirmed it did not come from him. The only other place that had this information is the intelligence community. (…) The intelligence community leaked it.”
During his interview with Coulthart, the UFO whistleblower volunteered the information about his previous mental health issue.
“When I asked him whether there was any dirt that anybody could drag out to try to discredit him, he barely thought it was worth mentioning but he acknowledged that he’d suffered from PTSD when he returned from Afghanistan,” Coulthart said. “David served his country honorably and with distinction. He’s a decorated officer.”
In his own statement, Grusch said he struggled after coming home from Afghanistan and with the loss of a friend.
“I was personally affected again years later when a close friend of mine, an intelligence officer who was serving in Air Force Special Operations Command at the time, took his own life shortly after we last spoke,” Grusch said. “I am proud to be transparent on this matter and am glad I got the help I needed to continue my intelligence career.”
With the information about Grusch experiencing PTSD, the Department of Defense allowed Grusch to keep his security clearance.
“The intelligence community and the Defense Department clearly accepted that there was no issue because he was allowed to keep his security clearance,” Coulthart said.

I always find psychiatric labelling amusing. Have you ever dealt with shrinks, and their pals the psychologists? They are the nuttiest of all. No exaggeration. Don’t think so. Go check out any of their books from the library. They are all as loonie as Kinsey and his gang of pedophiles.
A lot of us are very interested; we just don’t buy into some of the opinions and theories expressed here, and we in turn express that.

After his PTSD treatment, he went on to a position at the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) and retired as a GS-15, which is the equivalent rank of O-6 in the military (bird colonel).
If you don't like "some of the opinions expressed here," then express them. Has anyone tried to stop you?

I don’t buy Grusch’s story, if that’s what you mean. In the interviews and testimony I’ve seen he came across to me as completely fake.

I don’t see ‘spam’ on this thread. I see some of the same critical sarcasm and posting of silly memes that show up on just about any thread on any subject.
There’s nothing that makes your subject ‘sacred’, compared with any other subject discussed on FR.

Here's the problem that you don't seem to get.
Last week, I posted a thread. The first 100 comments were nothing but spam (with possibly 4 or 5 serious comments lost in the mix).
The intention seemed to be to prevent any discussion. Is that what you are in favor of? You just shortly ago spoke about how "discussion" is sacred...but you now think shutting down discussion that YOU don't like is OK.
And actually Jim issued a memo last month about just such a thing (stating that the purpose of threads was discussion). Maybe you missed it.

I wouldn’t define posts which disagree with you as ‘spam’. And I don’t see where criticism - humorous, sarcastic or whatever - has at all ‘shut down’ discussion of this topic.
Do not enter onto a thread on a topic you don't like just to disrupt, rattle cages, poke sticks, insult the regulars, or engage in trolling activities, etc.

"Blow the whistle about what the government knows about UFOs and you will suffer the consequences" (i.e., your medical files will be leaked and/or other action will be taken to damage your career).
They can't afford to have their godless materialist worldview destroyed by something 'not of this world, hence not empirical.'
As I understand it, he has had to pay for everything (travel expenses to DC to testify, cost of lawyers to file a complaint with the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community, etc.).
Looks like he's digging himself a financial hole. But maybe you know something the rest of us don't know.
