Don't police usually back off on these if the speed is too high and too much traffic?

The story makes no mention of any police pursuit in this incident.

It doesn’t look like it was a police chase. Just a crazy stupid driver.

I wonder if it was the driver who was treated and released. Hope not.

I hope the offender died.

A very good friend of mine was t-boned and killed a couple of months ago. The perp has yet to be found. Too bad they don’t string people up for reckless vehicular homicide.

The unexpected consequence of defunding the police.

Nobody obeys laws.

Unfortunately this kind of behavior is becoming all too common. Lots of very reckless drivers in my state as well with zero regard for who they maim or kill

Thank goodness no electric vehicles were involved. The fire from the batteries would have killed anyone trapped.

A motorist was heading west on Sunrise Highway – across from a shopping center

That is pretty useless info from the NY Post. Sunrise Highway runs the entire length of Nassau County. Looking up Unqua Road, I see it is in Massapequa over by the Suffolk county line.

The shopping center referred to is Sunrise Mall and or the shopping center across the street.

Very likely the usual suspects. They like driving very fast, particularly females of that group.

I think each jurisdiction has its own policy.

Innocent people are in real danger from “suspects” who have no regard for them as they flee. I think young perps are actually thrilled at being like Fast and Furious drivers they saw in movies.

Worst is that the perps will get no bail or low bail, not be back for court appearance, or will get off on technicality anyway. So all the carnage was for nothing.

A true crime show rerun two nights ago said (I think from 1999): “It was apparent to the officers that the fleeing suspects were intentionally trying to involve others in the city. They deliberately weaved to the sides at 80 to 100 miles per hour.”

Spent the first 12 years of my life in Massapequa, NY. 56-68
A nice Americana suburban town to be a kid. Long Island sucks now- not geographically but all the too many Turd Worlders let in who scuzz up the place. Plus the other homegrown idiots galore. No shortage of such and ditto for across the USA.

I grew up there too. That section by the former Sunrise mall has a curve that you can’t take at 100 MPH.
