One senior officer who is apart of reconnaissance unit told him he was give ten armoured vehicles for his soldiers.
Of these only five were road worthy, while the other five were not fit for purpose - meaning 50 percent of his equipment could not be used. The officer said that no maintenance or repair work had been carried out prior to his arrival, nor had they since received deliveries of spare parts or new equipment.
Mr Gulyaev blamed rampant corruption among Russia's military bosses and political leaders for the army's disfunction and disarray.
"Prigozhin, Gerasimov and Shoigu have been stealing money and screwing the military and of course Putin gets his cut," he explained.
...In Afghanistan, the Soviet army had around 110,000 troops fighting against small groups of partisans, he explained.
The Soviets enjoyed the full support of the government and its security forces as well as the majority of local leaders and communities. Yet despite these advantages, they could not prevail, losing some 15,000 soldiers during ten years of combat.

It's a nifty site, albeit incomplete because corruption is an ongoing thing.

Shadow World, as the umbrella, is itself interesting.
Source: https://shadowworldinvestigations.org/
On its splash page, it also features "Andrew Feinstein interviewed on how the global arms trade is profiting off the war in Ukraine. Feinstein explores standard practice for the most corrupt of all trades, the trade in weapons. Arms companies count their profits in billions while losses are measured in human lives."

That audio interview is about 12 minutes long, and rather interesting:
"The Arms TradeThe interview is well worth a listen. Related to the whole topic, and in part recommended by you. And by me.

50 percent really means 80%
Just plain like the moniker. Which was my reason to comment. Kudos!
Putin faces army mutiny as Russian soldiers turn guns on Chechens - morale in tatters [04/30/2022]

Russia is in tatters, I tell you! TATTERS!!
============================
even more Russia Russia Russia fabulism from John Varga:
Great digging ✌️🤣.
Surely not.....OMG, it’s Russia.
Russia is the greatest nation since sliced Bread. Many Freepers believe Russians walk on water and piss on Trump’s bed.
The story is globalist boogieman propaganda, for sure
"John Varga is a news reporter at Express.co.uk, covering both foreign and domestic affairs. Having lived for more than ten years in Russia, he has a particular interest in Russian politics and society. He currently specialises in the anti-Putin resistance movement and the fight by ethnic nationalists to secure independence from Russia."If indeed the bio has anything to say, then some possibilities come to mind.Source" https://www.express.co.uk/journalist/122936/John-Varga
1) He is actually dead and the Express UK lies, because as we all 'know' Russia always kills all its political opponents. Sort of a Vince Foster or Loretta Fuddy thing, I guess. Being dead, someone else is writing his stuff, or he is communicating from the spirit world.
2) He is alive these ten years, as the Express stated, and is tolerated while living in Russia. And even writing things which the 'Soviet Union' wants to stop him from writing. Sort of a Gozalo Lira thing, maybe. Being alive and linked to the Free Russia Forum would have to mean that option number 1, as above, is soon to be the real "reality."
As to the Forum in which Sergey Gulyaev participates, its website is as follows:
Source: https://www.forumfreerussia.org/en/
The website is readable in English as well as in Russian (for all the borshct-drooling Muscovites which allegedly frequent this Free Republic), and Ukrainian (for all those music lovers who enjoy watching a comedian play with his Ukrainian penis).
It fascinates me how so many in this "officially" non-NATO war between two non-NATO nations cheer on the Bidens spewing billions into the "event." But, when looked at in a longer frame, learn the depth of corruption and duplicity in this war "event," the Covid "event" and the "boiling oceans" event, and more. Because, gosh, there are always only two alternatives, and one side always, always wears a white hat. And Nancy Pelosi would never lie to us, either. Holy Schiff. < sarc >
I saw that....but that doesn’t equate to 50% losses as the title suggested.
They’re about to run out of ammo any time now!

Is there a higher foreign policy goal of the USA government right now than them wanting to make sure that the dissemination of information about the Bidens and Burisma are kept peachy? We’ll find out soon whether McCarthy and the House are on-board with this goal once the funding for FY24 is decided.
Personally, I think there should be higher priorities in the US government than keeping the Burisma narrative peachy. For example, the oaths of office by all the Congresscritters on their loyalty to the Constitution.
Lieutenant colonel Sergei Gulyaev served active duty in Afghanistan. He returned to service to serve in counter terrorism operations in Chechnya. He knows the real state of the Russian military.
Just like Igor Girkin, he is calling out the Russian leadership for its corruption and incompetence and corruption. Just like Girkin, he is attacked for it one way or another.
“The former Lt. Colonel told Express.co.uk that Putin’s army had no chance of winning the war against what he considered to be now the strongest professional army in Europe.”
“He also praised Ukraine’s military boss, General Valerie Zaluzhnyi, saying his army was fighting “ten times more intelligently” than the Russians.”
Sounds like he’s on Ukraine’s payroll.
That is a chilling read. For all those that think some how Russia is just misunderstood. Get a glimpse of what life is really like
