Yep - you can die if you only drink water and don’t replace the electrolytes (salt).

I’ll drink some water, then some gateraide. When I have two half-empty bottles I’ll pour one into the other.

My first thought too - she was likely ‘following her doctor’s advice’ to ‘watch her sodium’. Not smart, should have done her own research.
