In the wake of the Texas Legislature passing a ban on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) offices and pressure from elected state officials, many universities have had to grapple with shuttering the doors of their social justice-focused departments. One university in Denton has already announced its plans to “dissolve” and reorganize a multitude of departments.
The University of North Texas (UNT), located in Denton, serves a population of over 42,000 students.
Recently, UNT President Neal Smatresk announced the school’s response to Senate Bill (SB) 17 to the public.
The posted statement includes the plans for the Vice President for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access to retire from their position; the office be “dissolved” as well as other “units” within that office to be “transferred” to other departments.
“Senior administrators and I are doing our best to create a plan that ensures we will continue to support all our community members’ needs and take advantage of the talented staff members currently within the division by working to reassign them throughout the university in ways that improve our academic community,” Smatresk wrote.

They will simply fold the woke operation into other departments and call it something else.
Yep. That is simply what the woke do.
“talented staff members currently within the division”
They are “talented” in anti-white racism and leftist propaganda.
They should be fired immediately.
DEI is outright racism against white people.
No way this means anything. University departments are massively infected by leftist faculty totally immune to either popular sentiment or rational thought, so the policies and policing of un-woke thought and the pursuit of the DEI agenda will continue unabated.
BTTT
It’s definitely a step in the right direction.
If any of y'all remember Laina, the "Overly Attached Girlfriend", she went to North Texas.
UNT also has an embarrassing coffee mug meme.
How about you just treat everyone the same.
Is that too much to ask?
L
How about dissolving the offices of the folks that thought this was a good idea in the first place?
DIE lived a short life. But the people who are pressing collectivism are alive and well.
Pyscology.
My undergraduate degree came from UNT
Ironically, the original name of the school was the Texas Normal College.
DIE DEI.
Hook’em!
Well that was all a woke stupid waste of time and money wasn’t it?!
Keeping the same people on staff and letting them continue on committees that oversee hiring, student affairs, student and faculty discipline, etc.; means retaining the same poisoned ideology.
