Embarcadero Center is a commercial complex of five office towers, two hotels, a shopping center with more than 125 stores but only two remain open on three levels located in San Francisco, California.

“I don’t remember a mall like that when I visited a few years ago. I remember a building that had piers off of it. There were many vendors, but I don’t remember the set up shown here. Are there 2 Embarcaderos?”
I think you’re confusing “Embarcadero Center” (a 3 or 4 block-long office and retail complex that’s approximately 45 years old) and “The Embarcadero” (a miles-long boulevard that runs along the city’s waterfront approximately from Fisherman’s Wharf to China Basin where the Giants ballpark is).
There are four buildings, each are numbered:
Embarcadero 1
Embarcadero 2
Embarcadero 3
Embarcadero 4
So the video is of the Embarcadero Center then, right? The one I was thinking of was along the waterfront. It had a ferry that went from SF to Oakland, is my recollection.
So which building is the one that has the ferry?
Traffic on a weekday is similar to traffic before 10am.
It only gets rough at 130-2pm as people are leaving earlier than they did before Covid and really, it's not that many people.
Before Covid, if I were in the city after 3pm, I hang around til 6 or 7.
Now, I just leave anytime and if it's during the new rush hour I just take it because it's nothing like it was before Covid.

Before the pandemic, office work was responsible for a whopping 72% of the city’s gross domestic product, according to the Controller’s Office
Here's how downtown San Francisco fared during the pandemic through four metrics
Office space vacancy* | 4.8M sq. ft (Q1 2019) | 18.7M sq. ft (Q1 2022) | 290% |
---|---|---|---|
Convention attendees** | 221.5K (Q1 2019) | 30.3K (Q1 2022) | −86% |
BART exits*** | 9.8M (Q1 2019) | 2.3M (Q1 2022) | −76% |
Sales tax revenue**** | $55.6M (2019) | $33.5M (2021) | −40% |
It's worse than that now, as this article is over 1 year old
“So the video is of the Embarcadero Center then, right?”
Yes, that’s correct. I’m guessing the video was taken on a weekend, because last time I was there on weekday a couple months ago there were some operating retailers. The center is definitely struggling. The work-from-home thing as well as the general departure of businesses from downtown S.F. has killed the lunchtime and after-work business. Nearly all of the restaurants in the centers have closed. The 4-screen movie theater was essentially the center’s only draw on evenings and weekends, and that shut down a year or two ago.
Damn. Used to work at first and market close to those buildings. They were generally bustling. What I most remember are two bars there: Holding Company and Upper Level. This was in the 70s to early 90. Just like a disease, liberalism destroys another host.
Gavin and the corrupt Democrats doing what they do: Destroying everything they touch.
Not sure about that. California has voting machines, ballot harvesting, and mail in ballots.
Every election there are allegations of massive vote fraud.
And the politicians are majority corrupt Rat.
The whole state is the same as a corrupt third world country.
Reading about it is one thing- seeing it this way is altogether different. One of the great U.S. cities, closing down in order to spare the feelings of criminals, avoid giving real treatment to addicts and opening some long-term mental health facilities. Unfreakingbelievable. Now they’ve got REAL problems with a growing loss of tax revenue.
Informative reply. Interesting link.
It says “facing challenges ...”
“challenges” is putting it way too mildly.
“have yet to come up with a plan to make the fundamental changes”
How many times do we hear that “plan ... fundamental changes are needed”?
The only fundamental change for SF must be to get the vagrants out of the city. Can’t be done by woke leaders put in place by woke voters.
Sooner or later those not near the financial district are going to be sorry.
After Schwarzenegger beat Davis in the 2002 recall election Democrats said “That’s enough of that!” There hasn’t been a fair election since - and now they are taking the perfected tactics national.
SF was such a beautiful City.
The Ferry Building
The two largest SF hotels did just that - stopped making payments and “gave” them to the city.
Some possibly did but you have to understand how elections are “run” in San Francisco.
Rank choice voting and ballot harvesting. There is a reason homelessness and drug addiction is passively encouraged.
The addicts are a valuable voting block
Lol, I thought maybe it had a number.
That’s hilarious
I didn’t consider the context of your question but comma I think the address is the ferry building and a sweet number
No different than the Embarcadero Towers
I think the address I think the address is just embarcadero tower, one comma two comma three comma or four, and then the sweet number
I just checked the address on a couple of my customers
It’s “ferry building” + suite # + zip
Makes sense!
