The city of San Francisco has launched an investigation into Twitter headquarters, after a giant “X” was installed on the roof of the building without a permit amid the social media company’s ongoing rebrand.
The “X” was installed on top of the building in downtown San Francisco Friday, after police stopped workers earlier this week from dismantling the Twitter sign on the side of the building, according to The Associated Press. They reportedly lacked the proper permits and had not taped off the sidewalk as a safety measure.
Two new complaints were filed with the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection on Friday, one over the “unsafe condition” of the Twitter sign and another over the installation of the “X” sign.
The “@” symbol of the partially dismantled Twitter sign is “dangling” from the building and “could fall to the public way causing harm to pedestrians,” according to one complaint.
The other complaint noted that a city inspector had visited Twitter headquarters and requested access to the roof, where the giant “X” had been installed, but was denied. A representative with the social media company reportedly told the inspector that the “X” structure was a “temporary lighted sign for an event.”
“A building permit is required to make sure the sign is structurally sound and installed safely,” Department of Building Inspection spokesman Patrick Hannan told The San Francisco Standard. “Planning review and approval is also necessary for the installation of this sign. The city is opening a complaint and initiating an investigation.”

Linda the Fag has too much power. What is wrong with SC for keeping this POS
Austin? Why? It’s also a liberal hellhole.
San Francisco, the dump of California, is investigating a sign?
I am sure glad SF has taken care of all the crime and drug-related problems and now can go after the real criminal, Musk.
Off your knees....
San Francisco has a lot of crap going on there that needs investigating but I don’t think an X on the roof of the Twitter building is one of them.
Time for Musk to close down the SF HQ and move operations to Texas or Florida.
Um, it is the responsibility of the sign company to secure permits.
This is a smear campaign.
sounds like musk should simply move the headquarters out of san francisco ... problem solved ...
:)
Solution? Move it to Texas. Let the Freaks of San Francisco absorb the loss.
There's probably very little difference between a democratic government and the Mafia.....as proven by Washington DC today.
Because it is the only law in San Francisco that is actually being enforced?
Here’s a list of great cities built by government building inspectors and code enforcers.

You get my meaning except I would never build back again instead leaving scorched earth in my wake.
Never knew jefferson Airplane to think that deeply.
That is the way code violations work. They are just a money grab (because money fixes everything).
What currently worries me is the fact that crimes against people or property are brushed under the rug but process or paperwork crimes are being punished harshly.
This is a change that is not going to end well for society.
I see that the song “Tobacco Road” was written and performed by a guy named John Loudermilk in 1960, but became a hit for The Nashville Teens (from Britain!) in 1964.
Jefferson Airplane (JA) had several cover songs on their first album, which was more folk-rock. One of my favorites is “Chauffeur Blues” which is an old song (1941) co-written by a woman called “Memphis Mille”.
JA’s first woman singer was a gal by the name of Signe Anderson and she sang that song. I have no idea if Grace Slick meant it, or she just didn’t like the song, but they never performed that song again, saying that it was “Anderson’s song”. She left after the first album realizing being on the road with a young child was no way to live. She passed away a few years ago, and still did local performances with various small groups.
TMI, but....
I was a teen when the Beatles hit America and saw the “British Invasion” upclose - great music in that first wave including the One-Hit Wonders like “The Nashville Teens”
Jefferson Airplane’s album “Surrealistic Pillow” with Grace Slick was a HUGE hit of psychodelic rock and part of the SF response to the British Invasion.
Crazy times for a teen who move to Hollywood....
