Enjoy.
(Excerpt) Read more at archive.org ...
I used to like the show. I just can’t watch it anymore.
A classic.
Second only to “Blackadder”
Back in the day I bought Red Dwarf video tapes and a player from UK to watch them.
I watched them all the time on local tv saturday nights. Amazingly when pbs bought good uk comedies back then, the 90s.
This is one of those shows that I enjoy watching while at the same time being shocked that I like such a silly show..
It’s the same way with “Trailer Park Boys” ... I can’t figure out why I like it so much...
Because?
Cataracts? Broken DVD player? Prison warden has revoked your t.v. privileges? Etc.?
Regards,
Seen it too much and the humor’s worn off a bit.
Thanks! That puts your first statement into perspective.
But would you say that it is "must t.v." for sci-fi fans who have never seen it?
NOTE: My wife is a big fan of "Father Ted," which I find barely tolerable - due to its utter absurdity. Would you consider "Red Dwarf" on a par with "Father Ted?"
Regards,
Yeah, at least maybe anything from the first 5-6 seasons.
I never watched Father Ted. But just in general, i didnt consider red dwarf utterly absurd. I just got tired of it, you can wind up watching things too much and just get tired of it.
Gormenghast
TV Mini Series on IMBDd films
2000
Unrated
3h 52m
Would have to be renamed in the remake.
Red dwarf reminded me of a group of college freshmen in a large dorm on a Saturday evening with no dates. Just hanging around together and acting goofy.
Rates up there with “Waiting for God”, “Rise and Fall of
Reginald Perrin” and, of course, Mrs. Bucket.
Very underrated.
The books are low key and so also very underrated.
I just binge-watched it several weeks ago. I’d caught bits and pieces of it over the years, so it was a treat to be able to see the various story arcs.
I may have to watch “The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin” again to see if it holds up. Assuming it is available. I enjoyed it back when.
Aw man, really? Series 12 was brilliant, you’re missing out.
The latest series (12) is so good, it’s equally funny to the prime years during the 90’s. There’s an episode where the crew visits a space colony where it’s illegal to criticize anything at all. So you can imagine these guys trying to bite their tongues on all the idiocy around them. I think the Cat is the funniest he’s ever been here.
LOVE Red Dwarf!!
