I don't know what it is. It's Hollywood's take on the issue. 3 hours. I'm sure they took liberties with the truth. Was his foolin' around with other women important? Perhaps a documentary would have been too boring for people's attention spans.
Then there’s the crying kids.
Oppenheimer is a great movie. I sat through 5 min of the tail end of Barbie to watch it, which was the most painful 5 min of my life. Oppenheimer was not what I expected. So what. It was a wonderful 3 hrs of movie watching, in which I ACTUALLY LEARNED SOMETHING. I hope it wins many Oscars, but in reality we’ll see multiple Oscars for Barbie and Ken.
Best portrayal of Oppenheimer is the 1990s TV series (UK made I think!) with Sam Waterson as Oppenheimer. I found the Nolan movie ok but at times tedious with too many cinematic renderings of Oppenheimer’s moral angst.
I thought the two nude scenes DID NOT BELING in this movie, they were basically out of context. Other than that, I give it a 9 out of 10. You really should watch the documentary in it that is on YouTube. It is cerebral and a little difficult to follow. People think it is about him building the first atomic bomb, actually it is his post mortum Nobel Prize that was not given to him because big gov decided to play politics.
I hear ya. Can’t wait ‘til it hits Prime Video! 60”, Bose sound bar, and playing through my hearing aids via a cool thing called a Phonak TVLink!
10’ tall
Dayum
It is about naked nuclear war.
Well a naked woman is in it from what I read.
Some of the “background” music in the movie was louder than the bomb.
The genesis of Godzilla
Not joking
At least the Oppenheimer movie wasn’t a bomb.
Or give you that sinking feeling after watching it, like Titanic.
We were in line to see Titanic and started talking to an older couple about it. The sinking sequence came up. A couple teenage girls shrieked at us, “It sinks????”
I remember that moment exactly. SMH
“The genesis of Godzilla. Not joking”
Yeah I think that’s right. The Japanese invented a mythical monster in response to the bombs.
A few years ago a series called Manhattan
Named in the Venona Project (A lot of publications have no rebuttal explaining this away), Merkulov’s letter to Beria was suspicious as heck, was screwing a Stalinists including his wife (Sorry, no ideological escape back then of separating Communist from Stalin despite that asinine Emily Blunt’s cross-examination scene), good friends with Stalinists, Manhattan Project had a load of leaks (Wasn’t just Fuchs) to the USSR (From what was said by former Soviet officials, and Robert Downey’s character wasn’t joking when he stated the rapid intensification Soviets had in developing the A-bomb in which the US should go full bore on the H-bomb (Since Soviets were doing the same thing). Movie was made well but the material was bad propaganda. Heck of a theoretical physicist though.
I saw Oppenheimer at the Dallas IMAX today. It was like seeing a different movie, from when I saw it several weeks ago in a regular theater.
The thing that made the difference for me was the quality of the audio in the IMAX theater. The fact that the image was super large, didn’t make all that much difference to me. So, the soundtrack came to life like it had not, watching Oppenheimer at a regular theater.
In fact, the explosions, were too much. But everything else in the film was made way more wonderful listening through the IMAX sound system!! The dialogue was crisp and clear, expect, there were just a few places where the music covered up the dialogue.
You shouldn’t do spoilers. ;)
