Florida girl, 11, accused of fake 911 text An 11-year-old girl from Florida was arrested Wednesday for a fake 911 text that said her friend was kidnapped, according to the Volusia Sheriff's Office. The girl, who said she thought the prank text "would be funny," was arrested and charged with making a false police report concerning the use of a firearm in a violent manner – a felony – and misuse of 911 – a misdemeanor – according to deputies.

Is including use of a firearm in a violent manner, what makes this a felony? What if the text didn't include that part?

My daughters did this years ago when they were 4 and 7. Watching Rescue 911, they decided to call. The officer just lectured them.

Over the years I’ve had a few interactions with Volusia county PD and it’s been my experience that they have very little sense of humor.
Given they have to deal with spring break idiots, black spring break idiots, bike week idiots, nascar idiots and on and on.....I don’t blame ‘em.
The woman from Alabama that cause such an uproar last week is still free.....................

A lady in waiting for the right Florida Man to come along. The species will survive.
They’ll probably take her for a tour of the police station, lock her in a cell for a half hour, release her and in a few weeks decide not to pursue charges.
I knew a guy who was attacked by a lady when he critiqued her boyfriend who was playing hockey.
As she was punching him he restrained her and told her he’d call the cops. She continued and said “I am a cop.”
She continued. The police got there and handcuffed her. He then told her he was a Federal Agent. Big charges.
They let her swing In the wind for a month or so. I hope she was scared the whole time.
