Long before he became the most listened to radio voice in America, long before landing his talk gig at WABC, long before starting his talk radio career, Ruch Limbaugh was spinning records. In February 1971, after dropping out of college, 20 year old Limbaugh accepted an offer to DJ at WIXZ, a Top 40 station in McKeesport, PA, near Pittsburgh. He worked afternoons, using the name Jeff Christie, and was quickly promoted to morning drive. He spent almost 2 years at WIXZ, before moving crosstown to KQV

I listened to him for many years and marveled at how listening never got old. He and Paul Harvey.

Little did that stocky top 40 DJ know that he was going to go on to revolutionize AM radio.
I thought of Rush this week. I still can’t believe he’s gone. Sure miss him.

Art Bell wasn’t that good either. I’ve heard his old shows.
I’d love someday to get his old shows on a stick. Last I tried they’re available on line but it tales forever to go back forever.
I just listen to them on Rumble and Bitchute. I was too young to hear him on overnights.

I had all my AM presets set on Rush stations from New Orleans to San Antonio. When I was travelling that territory, I could pick up his show anywhere in Texas or Louisiana.
