It used to be on frequently in LA back in the 50s and 60s. I’ve probably seen it a dozen times. Great entertaining schlock for MST3K parties.

Yup; I saw it several times on TV back in those days. One of the local channels had a program called “Million Dollar Movie” — the theme music being Tiomkin’s theme from “High and the Mighty” — which would run the same movie for a week, always at the same time (I think it was 5:00 pm local time). And “The Beginning of the end” was one of the films shown. I remember at the time thinking, “I didn’t know Illinois looked just like California;” a snide comment about the fact the movie was filmed in Southern California.
