OK, I get it, Tony Bennett was a liberal. But then, if we appreciate a person’s music only because his/her politics aligns with ours, we might as well discard MOST entertainers of yesterday and today.

Yeah, Bennett was a gun-control nut — but so what? I didn’t buy his albums to get a lecture, and he never delivered one. Instead, he delivered the goods on single after single, album after album, concert after concert, from 1952 until 2021.

I think I saw Tony Bennett and Joe Williams perform together at the Concord Pavilion in California in the mid-to-late 1990s, but I can't find any record of it online.

I used the think that the first live concert that I went to was KISS at the Hollywood Sportatorium in Florida in 1976.

Then I remembered that when I was seven years old my parents took the kids with them to see Ella Fitzgerald at the Westbury Music Fair in New York in 1966. I don't remember any of it except when she sang "A-Tisket, A-Tasket."
