Irate moviegoer pummels 63-year-old man in Florida AMC theater over VIP seat beef

An irate moviegoer was caught on tape pummeling a fellow patron over a seat in a Florida theater earlier this month, authorities said.

The unidentified suspect appeared to throw numerous punches at a 63-year-old man who stumbled to the ground during part of the unhinged attack on July 10, according to footage released by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

The confrontation between the two men began when the victim and his wife saw the suspect and his female companion in the VIP seats they purchased in advance before showing up at the AMC Pompano theater, police said.

When the victim “politely” asked the pair to move, witnesses told investigators the alleged perp “became hostile” before standing up and “aggressively getting in the victim’s face,” the sheriff’s office said.

Do movie theatres have ushers anymore? It is better if you can quietly handle it yourself, but that is no longer always possible.

Frankly, I think reserved seating in a movie theatre is silly. This is no a Mozart Symphony or a performance of “Oklahoma!”.

I miss the old days of the movie theater, where you bought your tickets in the lobby and chose your own seats (first come, first serve). I still remember the sound my sneakers made on the sticky floors and the way the ushers would come down the aisle with their red smocks and flashlights to deal with any troublemakers.

There is an epidemic in this country of old men running their mouths to men half their age (or less) as they think their senior status will prevent people from going hands on… for many, especially ferals, they will not withhold an ass beating because you’re old. Simmer down, old men.

I’m a good sized muscular man, but I don’t say much to strangers, and I always avoid the public where “they” are.
You don’t know who is crazy, who has a gun, and blacks are notorious for unfair fights.

I think theaters see it a a new income source for them after COVID rules wreaked havoc.
Without ushers you are setting yourself up for trouble trying to buy and use them...
