True Grit remake sucks.
Same with TRON Legacy.

The remake is closer to the book, which is a fantastic read by the way.
The original was better due to the lead characters having likeable/interesting personalities. The remake was very flat.
When I was a young teen, my cousin and her young husband took me to see the film in a nice theatre in Little Rock. They were proud that Glen Campbell was from Arkansas and that the film was set in Arkansas and Oklahoma
Kim Darby was too dry after having her double swim the horse across the river. It wouldn’t have cost anything to spray some water on her and keep her dirtier in the subsequent scenes.
Campbell’s “too much gun” fired smokeless blanks. It wouldn’t have broken the bank to have put some 90-grain black powder loads in the big rifle and made each shot a real blast. They should have used black powder blanks in all the weapons.
The book is great and so is the original film. The remake had grit and grime but it just didn’t work as well as a film.
