The radio back then, had the soundtrack playing constantly.
Get mad at me but this musical was conveying Christ's life and message
50+ years on and all I can remember of this is:
“Prove to me that I’m no fool, walk across my swimming pool.”
Hubby bought a group of old musicals about a year ago. One of them was JCSS. We watched it last Easter and I still enjoy it.
Also top-notch choreography:
Jesus Christ Superstar (1973) - Simon Zealotes Scene (4/10) | Movieclips

It made Judas out as a sympathetic, misunderstood figure. Pure garbage.
The LP was great. The movie sucked. This clip shows why.
Close. It was “Prove to me that you’re no fool”. I still have never seen the movie, but we just about wore the LP out back then. Some of the songs still pop into my head from time to time.
Agreed, the studio double-album was a masterpiece. The film was so-so.
I saw it LIVE performance in 1972 or thereabouts................
I knew every lyric by heart...................

I saw Deep Purple Mach 2 on their 1984 reunion tour.
When they played Some Kind of Woman, during the breakdown section they played a few bars from the title track Superstar. Ian sort of smiled and laughed.
And yes, he killed at that show.
I can’t claim that for certain, but I might have been pretty close.
Which is why live performances are so enjoyable and memorable.
Mary Magdelene was not portrayed as a prostitute but rather something of a disciple
One of the greatest songs in the production is “I don’t know how to love him”

Ha, Ha.... our paths cross yet again
I saw the production on stage in London. It was I believe the longest running production there. I have seen the movie and may even have it somewhere on tape
I’ll not make comments because I will get harassed for evermore.
When this movie came out I remember my mom and grand parents didnt care for the portrayal. I never saw it.
Was it biblically accurate?
It was a respectful treatment of Jesus’s story and, because I refused to attend church, was my most major exposure to Jesus as a child.
