I see many Republican candidates proudly exclaim the importance of USA being the strong leader of the free world.
I'm curious what that means for today, and why that is important. What values is USA promoting in other countries in the world. Which examples of successes do we have to show from this role as a leader in the past 20 years.
Maybe I'm too ignorant about all the many nuances of the international scene. Can someone explain what this means and why it is important?

Trump is no different. Claims the U.S. can end the war in Ukraine by a mere U.S. Presidential decision. Some Conservatives should quit being like the Left, hypocrites when it comes to “American leadership”.
They changed it from “free world” to the “rules based order” since America and Western countries are no longer free.
That question was answered in the election of 2020.
It depends.
Do you mean the US government? If so, no, never.
Do you mean the people of the United States? That can be broken down many ways; religion, race, ethnic background, political philosophy, sex.
For the majority of Americans, I’d still say yes.
Biden got 81 million BALLOTS. Trump got 75 million VOTES.
There is a difference.
I believe the vast majority of Trump voters are good, solid Americans like we once were of yore (the silent majority). Many non-political people also, and even some who vote democrat, because they always have, or their parents did. Nevertheless, Independent voter numbers are growing as people see the flaws in both the democrat and republican politicians and parties.
We were once good, and we need to reestablish that good nation-wide.
