I have tried explaining to one family member that the media is only telling part of a story, never the whole story. She says she believes me, but still if someone doesn’t spoon feed her news, she doesn’t actively try to go out and see if there’s more to it. So she lives in this super simplistic world where what the MSM says, that’s what she goes with. When the story gets changed, she just says, ok, they made a mistake before. Now I should believe the new version. She never asks questions. It’s frustrating to talk with her.
They often have redefined terms so that you don’t have a clue about what they are actually saying and they don’t want to acknowledge what you are saying.
Some of them are emotionally stunted, and think if everyone would just be nice, everything would work out fine. And of course, conservatives are not nice.
Had a liberal cousin who, when co fronted with facts that refuted her asinine claims, said that she “chooses not to beleive in alternative facts” as if those facts that refuted her were false.
Clint Eastwood said (paraphrasing) “if you could reason with liberals, there wouldn’t be any liberals”
You simply can’t reason with unreasonable people/liberals- they have their own distorted sense of “truth”, and won’t accept anything that conflicts with their hateful agenda. Actual facts be damned.
R. Reagan said it best...”they know so much that isn’t so”. and they aren’t afraid to impart their vast amount of “wisdom and knowledge” on those they look down upon. you know, you and me. I’ve learned to smile and grin but not say a word. why bother.
What liberals fail to realize is that all this ‘touchy-feely-be-nice-to-each-other’ rhetoric is just that, rhetoric.
Once the elites of their movement get full unopposed control, all that stuff, LGBTQ+/-QWERTY crap, abortion ‘rights’ and especially CIVIL RIGHTS, goes away, and them with it. The Bolsheviks did it, the Nazis did it and these so-called ‘Progressives’ will do it, too.
Next time you have the chance to talk to a liberal who espouses LGBTQ crap, just tell them to look up ‘Ernst Rohm’............

Ignorance, immaturity, and stupidity do not make for good intellectual discussions. It is why colleges were supposed to filter out the dumb, but hey don’t, so now we have ignorance, immaturity, and stupidity in all the schools.

Yep, the party TOTALLY CHANGED. I’m convinced that FDR, JFK, and LBJ actually thought they were improving the country by bringing others up to join what was then the dominant White society, even if meant greatly growing the government.
They’re now done with that and are OPENLY HOSTILE to the country...they need to be stopped!
Years ago, Rush Limbaugh suggested to his audience, ask a liberal “what is the #1 issue that keeps you voting for Democrats.” He then responded it is………“abortion rights” So I asked three liberals I knew…..it was ABORTION RIGHTS, unanimously.
So my take is, liberals are embarrassed to admit murdering the unborn is the only thing they know, everything else is irrelevant.
I told my younger lib Brother that the only reason we get along is because I withhold my opinions for the sake of our family. Any time I’ve shared facts contrary to his indoctrination, it’s turned into months long rifts where we don’t talk at all.
They believe in their own supreme being. Obama was a messiah to them. BJ too. The only difference is Obama kept his pants on. Clinton’s foibles came out just like JFK’s. His death cemented his legacy. The whole Kennedy family was the American version of royalty, something our founders rejected. Still the left’s longing won’t go away.
Rush cut them down a few notches with humor-honest humor they couldn’t deny. We’re now missing that on our end.
Because it’s their religion.
All JFK and LBJ and probably FDR wanted was to be continually elected to high office. If the country did better under their tutelage it was an accident or afterthought!
Another writer that doesn’t get it. The left isn’t liberal - the left is authoritarian collectivists Marxists. I keep trying to say, “stop giving these evil SOBs the cover of liberalism”. These people are anything but liberal.
The right and especially the alt-right are far more liberal these days than the left.

So the left has succeeded with your family member, as they have with one of mine and with several family members of my best friend. They don’t bother to ask questions of their leftist masters. Mission accomplished.
Question is... how do we turn this around? Can we... or is it already too late?
That’s what happens when I talk to liberals. They have no idea what is going on because their news sources don’t report it.
Why Is it so difficult to talk politics with liberals?
They lack logic reasoning understanding an are easily convinced of things that do not work and anti American.
Socialism Marxism communism doesn’t seem like a bad idea to them.
Karl Marx had many friends and followers and still does.
In my experience, liberals are all about feelings and not about thinking. Life is unfair and their solution is always bigger government.
Case in point, college debt forgiveness.
They feel it unfair for students to repay their huge college loans because they don’t have a job that lets them repay their debts.
But it’s okay to make blue collar workers pay for the debt ridden students that volunteered to take on that obligation.
In short, they feel about issues but not think about it. It’s all about feelings but resent anyone who brings realty into their dream world.
