Seek peace now, IMO Russsia has suffered enough losses they won’t try this again for a while. Let Ukr be neutral, shave off the eastern slice Russ already has and live to fight another day. Ukr can rebuild its defenses. The alternative is to lose the rest of a generation of young men and very possibly even Ukr existence as a nation state.

I noticed yesterday that both Tass and the NYTs, each regime’s official propaganda organ, agreed on the magnitude of the losses, 30%. Since the “counteroffensive” was delayed in order to accumulate the latest NATO weapons deliveries, we must assume that most of that 30% was the best NATO has furnished.

No. To anyone with any geostrtegic sense whatsoever, the Americans and NATO allies who backed themselves into this fiasco are the immoral ones. The Soviet Union did not collapse because the Russians are stupid and incompetent, but because the central planning fallacy locked up their economy and it collapsed. That same central planning fallacy has taken root on our side and it is creating disasters here. Lot's of them. One of them is that the Russians can develop new military capabilities a whole lot faster than our sclerotic defense acqusition process can. Our leadership is panacking over it - really, they are - and there are a lot of efforts to work around the Pentagon's own defense acquistion bureuacracy.
Most of this disaster is just an extension of the string of US military disasters since the collapse of the Soviet Union. It is hubris, ignorance, lack of self-awareness on our side, and utter lack of adherence to the principles that founded our own rapidly declining democracy. So I wouldn't go wagging moral fingers anywher except Washington DC.

I don't believe anything I am told - by Russia or by DC or by the Ukrainian General Staff who are raking in billions of my tax money in return for telling you what you wnat to hear.

NATO was once a great idea much like the UN but both have failed miserably and should be disbanded and they’d fall apart immediately if America didn’t find them.
So yes F’ Ukraine and Russia it’s a European problem that Europe has failed to do anything about. Why hasn’t Europe built it’s militaries up to protect their borders? They EXPECT America to do it for them so F’ Europe as well.
