AUSTIN -- Tesla says its first production Cybertruck electric pickup has rolled off the assembly line, nearly two years behind the original schedule.
The company tweeted a photo on Saturday showing scores of workers in helmets and yellow vests surrounding the truck.
"First Cybertruck built at Giga Texas!" Tesla tweeted, including a cowboy hat-wearing emoji. Owner Elon Musk retweeted the post.

Is that the V6 with the turbo? If so keep an eye on the timing chain.
When you remember that the E in E Truck actually stands for “Elitist”, the new vehicle makes better sense. It also looks vaguely like a Hummer, which should increase the market value to that market even more.
Well that sure took a long time.
Maybe they can license a catchy name?
I don’t think Ford is using Edsel.
“No sale, no way.”
Why do you HATE technology?

It’s a Rosie!
The replaceable battery idea has been around for at least 15 years. The EV insanity started creeping into government fleets around that time. I was approached by a company called Better Place that was advocating for battery standardization, and was developing equipment and infrastructure to swap, charge and store EV batteries. It’s difficult, if not impossible to design a removable battery unit (at least for cars, since the battery is essentially part of the vehicle’s structure and is well integrated within it. Even if standardization was achieved, the number of extra batteries that would just be sitting around waiting for a swap is unimaginable. Not to mention the equipment and facilities that would be required - nationwide. I don’t think it’s going to happen.
Everything about EV’s is far more complex and expensive than an equivalent ICE vehicle. Transportation is really a fairly simple task. Why are we complicating it so? It’s silliness IMHO.

Had they done a better job they could have driven it off the line instead of rolling it off.
That design looks like a computer mouse.
See plenty of Rivian e-pickups in techheavy Seattle. Won’t be long and there will be plenty of the tesla trucks roaming around here too.
Government fleets in blue states/cities will probably start buying the electric F-150s.
Over here they went all-in switching fleets to hybrids and natural gas when those were hip. Efleets will be the next virtue signal to waste tax payor money on.
I agree with everything you say. At the same time we have large amounts of gasoline sitting in filling station tanks. No different.
For work vehicles that are on the road nearly 24/7 to maximize prouctivity, it only makes sense they not sit idle recharging.
Yes, electric makes no sense in our gasoline world. Gasoline cars made no sense in the age of horse and buggy.
Gasoline, gas stations used to have that fear. Hollywood still loves the gas station exploding.
Just as with gasoline, we’ll slowly learn how to control these batteries. There may be a few casualties. But we’ll get it.
How many traffic deaths justify cars now?
How many EV deaths are allowable?

One thing I’m impressed with is their 10-speed AT, works real well.
Stainless steel body panels... wonder if Musk found a way to keep it from showing every fingerprint? You cannot stamp these panels, which explains the angular appearance. Will be interesting to see how well it sells. It does have a certain appeal.
The other question is have they figured out how to keep the stainless from work hardening and cracking over time?
