A really great science fiction flick,one of the best IMHO
This came up recently here in another thread. I enjoy finding old public domain and/or American and British B movies and watching them. I didn’t know there more of the Quatermass films. I’ll check this one out too. Thank you for the tip.
I recall this movie as “Five Million Years To Earth”. My experience watching it as a youngin was terrifying.
Yeah, for some reason the title changed when it came to the US. Perhaps because it was part of a series.
Another one in the series that had its name changed was “Voyage to the Far Side of the Sun” I don’t know what that one was called in the UK

Great movie! Scared the heck out of my GF at the time.
I saw it in 1973....was actually a redo of a TV series in Olde England from the 50’s...nevertheless, the movie stayed in my memory since. Is an excellent, thought provoking, movie. Definitely needs a modern day redo. With minimal cgi or wokeness, or “spielberg like” over the top meaningless scenes.
It’s the insidiousness and the subtilty of the implications of the plot which is the star of the movie.
If memory serves it’s also known as 5 Million Years to Earth...
This is an excellent movie that I remember watching as a child.
It stuck with me. I was able to see it twice, as it revolved back on my local television station, over the years.
Great film... made me want to seek out the Hobb’s End tube station in London.

You’re correct. It was first seen as a different title here in the States; and the name similar to the Harryhousen flick.

Saw this as a child in the early seventies. It definitely left an impression. I never could remember the name and gave up looking for it. THANK YOU!!!
Same - it was one of those ‘movie of the weeks’ back in the ‘70s.
They built up a lot of suspense, as well as used acting, instead of dialogue, to explain many things. Worthy of being seen in Blu Ray.
Best seen when having crab legs for dinner, and drinking grasshopper cocktails.
