I returned all their equipment. I now only have internet and “land line” phone. I’m saving over $100/month. I now subscribe to YouTube TV and Britbox. I don’t miss a thing. Not one thing.
Several stream services just doubled their rates. We axed them.
I think years ago, some network, perhaps NBC, marketed their prime time lineup as “must see TV”
How many people think in terms of “must see” TV programs anymore? If indeed they ever did?
Also, it sometimes doesn't play well with LG TV. But they are "working on it" they tell me.
Same here, but image quality and sound isn’t as good. Even OTA beats streaming, DVR still beats them all.
I woukda cut the cord 5 years ago if the wife woulda let me. She finally saw the light and now we have toutubetv but there are a few idiosyncrasies I don’t care for. For instance if you stop watching something you previously recorded and go back to it, the recording starts from the beginning all over again.....very annoying.
Also, no slow motion viewing and some recordings are absolutely loaded with ads you cannot fast forward through......we may try Sling before too long....comparable programming at half the cost.
do you get the following
espn (west and east) (I only care about it for car racing)
A&E
TBS
Discovery channel
sci fi
turner classic movies
newsmax
id channel
we’d love to cut cable, but having to pay extra for some channels per month to get what we like bring it all back up to, or more than cable-
internet and “land line” phone. I’m saving over $100/month
Not only do I not miss it but when I go to hotel rooms, I don't even turn the TV on. I just fire up my laptop and stream something on that if I want to watch something.
so can I get rid of cable without disrupting the others?...
we have amazon prime already.....what other channels are worth subscribing too....any advice would be helpful.
Comcast is now charging us $200 a month for cable, phone, internet. We are going to drop the phone and cable but still, Comcast being the only service in our area still has us by the tail.
I talked to a Comcast worker and he said they can’t wait to get out of the cable business and just concentrate on internet. Soon internet will cost what cable does today. Don’t think for a minute Comcast and others are going to lose money in the long run.
The clerk offered me the higher internet speed for free, but then told me I'd have to use their own router. I told him I use a VPN from time to time, and questioned if that would be a problem. He told me I would have to ask their permission to use it. Scratch that.
A week later I had to call Spectrum because the asshole at the store showed I'd brought all my equipment back, but he never stopped my cable or landline service. Then I had to call them back again a month later, because I discovered they were still charging me for something related to cable. I will never do business with Spectrum ever again.
I dumped cable in 2020 and haven’t looked back.
My internet is fiber and it is not tied to the cable companies at all. Plus fiber is awesome!
I do have Directv Stream however because I am addicted to sports.
I helped my friend get off of Cox and switch to Verizon 5G and move to Directv Stream and he saved $150 per month.
Exactly what we did but we dropped the land line. We have YouTube TV, FreeVee, Tubi & Amazon Prime but not a big fan of their TV services.
