These statistics are misleading to some extent.

The percentage of single households is NOT the same thing as the percentage of the total population.

13% of USA adults live alone.

26% of USA adults age 65 and older live alone.

Living alone is much more common in large cities. Singles now make up more than 40 percent of households in Atlanta, Seattle, San Francisco, Minneapolis and Denver.

I know many elderly people who live alone. Either myself or my wife will eventually join those ranks, depending on which one of us goes first.

There was a time when it was common for the elderly to move into a household of one of their grown children, or another relative, when they became single. But that seems to be seldom the case in these days.

If it were to be me, I would never consider moving in with one of my grown children. I would always want to live independently, without being a burden on others.

This is an interesting subject.

And we’ve been told that adult loser children moving in with parents in record numbers. These seem mutually exclusive, but I’m not a statistician so...

Without sounding like a communist.:)
I personally support off grid and or tiny homes.
And wish there were more options along those lines.

I have joked that the government will have us all living in cubical.
Personally, i would..if i could.. live in a cubical.
As long as it didn’t involve the government and thereby keeping the cost affordable.
And that is the difference between my PERSONAL CHOICE and a Communism is: I do not want to MAKE anyone else live that way.
Actually, i don’t have a problem with a group of people living like communist. Share work and funds..a commune. The Amish probably are closest to communist lifestyle than any stupid leftard in America. Which is funny cause leftard’s seem to respect the Amish because they live simple and share everything...even though 99% of leftards would never actually live that way.

BTW I’m totally not into EVs..which is an example of how “our government” is attempting to force everyone into a product and more broadly a lifestyle. And the total radical subversive extreme is turning children into Eunuchs. insane. disgusting.

Not really misleading, but your numbers are also interesting.

When the child/children of a single mother leave/s the house, there's just one person left in the house.

Also, how many single, divorced, or widowed parents live in the old neighborhood that the children had to leave due to the high costs, decay, and lack of jobs? That scenario has been playing out all over the country for a few decades now. The parent is set in their ways and refuses to follow the children to a completely different region of the country.

As an aside, I read a lot of comments on other sites about their living conditions. One of the common themes is how they struggle to find affordable housing. What they don’t seem to realize is that our housing system is geared towards “couples” and families. It was always difficult for a single person to afford a house and all of the associated expenses.

A lot of these people are unwilling or unable to sustain long term relationships—and have to go it alone. They will probably be unlikely to live like their parents and grandparents. Ever.

The mistake most are making is that they believe the enemy’s plan is “Divide and Conquer” but the goal is actual ATOMIZATION of every single soul. Soro’s true vision of total egalitarianism. Every person on earth is at war with every other person. That is the battle you face. All good men have to do is nothing for evil to prevail.

The happiest days of my life were spent living alone and working 14+ hours a day. Then nutty me decided to marry after retirement...BIG MISTAKE! Don’t take that comment wrong,.. I do love my lovely wife, but the institution of marriage is NOT FOR ME. Husband and wife should NEVER share a bathroom. When we build a new home it will have two master bathrooms...His and Hers.

I’ve lived alone my entire adult life, except after college graduation and living with roommates for a few years. I never married (never met the right man) so I don’t have children. My last day of work was in March so I’m adapting to not working and being at home everyday alone. I’ve always loved being by myself but it is now an adjustment since work was such a social atmosphere. I’m grateful everything in my life is paid off and I can live without income insecurity. It’s now just me and my two pups.
