Last week the U.S. Supreme Court stuck down Affirmative Action in higher education when they reversed affirmative action after 62 years. The Supreme set new limits on affirmative action programs in cases involving whether public and private colleges and universities can continue to use race as one factor among many in student admissions. After decades of fighting for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in films and television, both behind and in front of the camera, Hollywood is flipping the script.

Diversity and inclusion, via affirmative action, were the likely cause for so many film and tv roles going to blacks and Hispanics, where many of those roles were written for whites.
If a space alien were to look at the ‘diversity’ as indicated in films and tV roles and commercials, those aliens might conclude that, at least half of humans in America were blacks, while the reality is that, blacks compose about 13% of Americans.

I’m really enjoying the Verizon TV commercial with “Sophie”, a cute white chick. We’re so used to seeing POC in every ad, that when a Caucasian is on screen, it’s remarkable. It shouldn’t be remarkable.
