According to rumors, Biden was supposed to be the Trojan horse for Kamala.
If Biden resigns now, then Kamala will take over for the remainder of this term (1+ years), and she can run again twice. Assuming she “wins” both times, thats 8 years + 1 year or 9 years total.

The rumor was that Biden was going to step down at the midterms, to “give” Kamala a 10 year term, but the Dems lost the midterms and the Hunter Biden investigation has blocked that from happening.

Kamala is no doubt angry that Biden didn’t step down as he was meant to; she may try to lobby the Dem Senators to vote to convict Biden in an impeachment trial.
