An elderly Michigan abortionist is accused of running over a pro-life advocate with his vehicle last week outside a Saginaw abortion facility, breaking the man’s leg.
Mark Zimmerman, a pro-life sidewalk counselor, told Live Action News that his tibia was fractured, and he is using a wheelchair until he has surgery to place pins and screws in his leg.
Zimmerman said he frequently prays with other pro-lifers outside the Women’s Center of Saginaw, an abortion facility. On Friday, he said 88-year-old abortionist Theodore Roummel ran over him twice with his vehicle.
“I was standing in the driveway and the abortionist ran over my leg,” he told Live Action. “And then he had to reverse to get off my leg, so he ran me over twice.”
According to a GiveSendGo fundraiser to help Zimmerman with medical and legal expenses, several witnesses saw Roummel get out of his vehicle and laugh at Zimmerman as he lay injured on the ground.
“He parked his car and came over when the police came, and was screaming at the police about how we always run in front of him — we don’t,” Zimmerman said. “But I have four witnesses who saw what happened. So they gave a statement to police, and he was not arrested. He went about and finished his day by doing five abortions.”
When paramedics arrived, Zimmerman was treated and then taken to the hospital by ambulance for additional care, according to the fundraiser.
He told Live Action that police are investigating, but it does not appear that the abortionist has been charged yet.
“I went today to the police station in Saginaw Township, and was told they didn’t have the police report finished because it is still under investigation,” Zimmerman said. “… If the roles were reversed I would have been taken away in handcuffs.”
In 2012, Roummel was charged with assault in a very similar incident after Lynn Mills, director of Pro-Life Michigan, said the abortionist hit her with his car, according to the report.
Despite the attack, Zimmerman said he plans to go back to the abortion facility so he can continue to minister to families in need.
“I’m moving forward and telling people that I do forgive this gentleman for his actions, as a believer in Jesus Christ, but I do want to see justice prevail,” he told Live Action. “I don’t consider myself a hero of any kind. Keep up the fight for life, and remember that God has not given us a spirit of fear.”
Increasingly, pro-life advocates have become targets of violent attacks. Last fall in Michigan, another pro-life advocate, Joan Jacobson, was shot by a pro-abortion man while she was campaigning ahead of the election.
LifeNews counted more than 300 attacks since 2022, including 10 arson/attempted arsons, assaults, death threats and vandalism.
In November, FBI Director Christopher Wray admitted that most of the abortion-related attacks within the past year have targeted pro-life organizations. “Since the Dobbs decision, probably in the neighborhood of 70 percent of our abortion-related violence cases or threats cases are cases of violence or threats against … pro-life organizations,” he told a U.S. Senate committee.
Many pro-life organizations are increasing security and Republican lawmakers are demanding action from the Biden administration to crack down on the growing pro-abortion domestic terrorism. But, while the Biden administration has been aggressively working to expand the killing of unborn babies in abortions, it has done little to stop the hostilities directed at pro-life advocates and churches.

Anyway, he was standing in the driveway. That’s where cars arrive and leave from. Standing in the way of a moving car is never a smart move.
